Good stuff, thanks for posting.

Wonder what this means:

Quote:
Rick: How much longer are you signed for at ESPN, and do you think this is your final radio destination?

Dan: Under contract until the spring of ’10. For the first time in 16 ½ years of afternoons, I’m flirting with the idea of a different day part... if anybody would have me. This is a good thing here right now. I don’t know what I want for lunch today so it’s tough to predict what may happen in two years.

It means if the money is right, he'd try mornings.

It would have to be the perfect setup. Mac is gonna bring ratings wherever he goes in Chicago and whenever he is on, thats a given. But MJH is clearly the BEST show on sports radio right now, and I think it would be very tough to duplicate the same kind of show-- chemistry, ratings, hilarity, guests, giveaways, reputation, etc-- anywhere else on the dial, or with anyone other than Jurko and Harry.

I wouldn't be surprised if they want him to take a pay cut too....

CBS is slashing salary across the country.

Chris Russo of Mike and the Mad Dog walked last week too

Chris Russo sounds like he's already got another gig lined up with Sirius radio - 5 year 15 million.

I guess when you're broadcasting throughout the East Coast you can command such money.

Mac has to say stuff like that. It's just smart business. He's trying to drive his price up. Has to say he'd be willing to go other places and do other shifts.

Now, it back fired on North. He lied about getting other offers in an effort to drive up his price. Score didn't bite and Pappy had no fuckin offers. He never will. Now he's doing a handicapping site.

Mac's a little different. He actually has listeners. He has success. He might have other offers. Even if he doesn't, ESPN 1000 could still fall for his bluff cuz he actually does have some leverage with his great ratings. They might think Mac would walk and just wait for something else.

Plus, he doesn't even need to bluff. He is the number 1 show for men in afternoons. That will get him a nice raise from MVP.

Mac, I like how B and B weren't mentioned as competition.

Nicely played.

What was the history behind his feud w/ North? Can anyone provide details?

North was the one of the primary people who 'moved Mac's cheese' several years ago.
