Post subject:  I'm not taking my own advice

When the curtain was closing on North's run at the Score, I was puzzled how Mike created such a deep-rooted feeling of hatred here. I begged the question, "Then why do you listen?"

Following Mariotti's departure, amidst a wild celebration, I wondered aloud "If you didn't like his column, why did you continue to read it?"

So I sit here this morning, aggravated by many of the comments posted, knowing I cannot turn my back on CSFMB.com. I can't. So, instead of taking my own advice, I offer to walk into the lions' den and pull up a chair. It's time for another "Ask Mac" section, in which I will answer your questions/criticisms on Poor Harry, childish, bullyish, ego-maniacal behaviors in which I engage myself. Perhaps it's time to give a crystal clear picture of everything that goes on with my show and the station, the business, and being the father of "a tard." Shame on you for that.

You're all right with me, man.
I just thought the Mac Jurko and Carm show reference was a little over the top.
ignore the comment about your son, that was a bullshit thing to say, we all know that.

Just so you know, I really liked Carm last week. He's more and more polished each time I hear him.

Mac, keep doing what you are doing. You are the best sports radio guy in Chicago. Don't let any haters get you down.

Dark is exactly right the comment about your son was pure BS, any respectable poster around here knows that.

Hey, first off Mackey, it's a message board and you have to expect douchebags like Score is Doomed and the other piece of shit who feel the need to make dumbass comments and sit behind a keyboard with their pants around their ankles as their parents never gave them any attention and feel they need to try and get it here. I don't think anyone here would have the balls to say it to your face and if the guy who runs the board has some balls he should post who it is.I get tired of it and it shows no class and a lack of balls by this creep and the sad thing is it's probably a regular here who thinks it's funny.

Having said that, if your going to say things on the air and have the board get all over your ass you should address it here. You seemed pissed by the fact people are calling you out on the Tiny One. I thought it was a bit much at times but also funny as well. It sounded as if you and Jurk have issues with Harry and all we are doing is asking you to clear the air and besides your the one who kept bringing it up.

Bad weekend at the window?

Good week at the window, S-G. Still winning at baseball and split in two college plays.

I can take the criticism of what Jurko and I did. All of it. I know it was excessive. I know it was sophoric. Guilty as charged. And so it goes.

What upsets me is the nonsense of "not having perspective on team," "raging ego," "bully," etc. I never bullied anybody in my life who didn't have it coming to him. Any nobody has tried to do more for his staff -- benefits, bonuses, on-air chances, etc. -- than I have. BTW, I wish there were a newspaper "throwing money" at me. I'm pleading for just getting a chance at an audition to write for the S-T.

When my customers give me feedback, I usually ignore both the top and bottom 40%. The middle 20% is usually the most honest. It helps weed out the boneheads, acid freaks, and asshats.

Granted I didn't get to hear every minute of the show last week, but from what I could tell, it sounded like it was clearly just the guys acting sophomoric. But I will agree with a lot of other posters, it was obvious that Carm felt uncomfortable at many times, and that was what made me question whether it was just guys being guys, or if there was more going on.

I guess the only question I have for you Mac (and we may or may not find this out today on the show), is how did Harry take it?

I think Harry's reaction, and his overall feelings on the matter will undoubtedly make it clear whether the guys went over the line or not.

Edit:I truly pity the guy who made that degrading comment. There is absolutely no excuse for comments like that anywhere. Mac's kid may not be perfect in your eyes, but I can 100% guarantee, that without a shadow of a doubt, he is perfect in Mac's eyes. And that's all that Mac and his son should care about.

Carmen was flattered by it. His star is on the rise and he knows it. Uncomfortable? Maybe. But don't think for a second Carmen wouldn't like to have another chance at a major day part. How did HT take it? I don't know and I really don't care. Today is a new show and marks the beginning of a new week... a week in which meaningful football games are going to be played. Jurko and I have moved the drill.

Plus, Carm looks great on the links in golf pants and a golf shirt.

I still love ya Mackey. I didn't get to listen last week, so I don't have a dog in the Harry bashing fight, As far as the fuckstick that made that comment about your son, I implore bigfan to delete it, and ban that motherless fuck.

Post subject:  Re: I'm not taking my own advice

Harry's "shtick" is sort of old...and frankly I do not think he is that funny. He goes way out of the way to try and "pull in" a punch line that 99% of the time is NOT funny.

When I was able to listen last week...I heard a lot of Harry-dissing & MJC promotion. It was very noticeable & seemed mean spirited.

IF...I said IF...Harry were to go, I would not be disappointed. That said...you need someone who has the balls to be his own man & not be a "yes man" or "bill COWER" to Mac & Jurko. I'm not sure how Carm was with that.

Mac,
Why didn't you let Carmen "drive" the MJ&C show more?
You've said in the past that you enjoy the 2nd seat when a capable driver is available.
It would have been nice to see what Carm can do with the varsity team around him.

Post subject:  Re: I'm not taking my own advice

I should have let Carm drive it more, yes. And yes, Slappy, Carm has nice golf pants. No need to implore BigFan to delete the post or ban the poster. Freedom of speech, I say. If the dude thinks God gave me an autistic child for a reason, whatever that reason is, have at it. The time I spent with Patrick over the weekend was awesome, so I'm not offended. An autistic child often means a child who would prefer spending time with Dad than girls/buddies, so I'm ahead in this one.

Silvy just gave a tease for the MJH show today and I quote "MHJ reunite today and it might not feel so good". So your teammates are promoting a rocky start to your show Mac. It's not just us.

Mac, I sensed that you were driving a wedge into the MJH tree (maybe even subconsciously). That usually only happens if you are planning to chop it down. Or maybe I listen too hard.

Beats not listening at all, I suppose.

The show is what it is because of the 3 of them. Yes, Harry probably is the weakest link, but there's lots of people out there that like his act. Esepcially when it comes to the eternal optimism about the Cubs. I'm a regular at the Saloon, and why I don't dislike Harry, he does get on my nerves the most of the 3.

As I said in another thread, Harry's an adult and if he let the ribbing of him on the "MJC" show get under his skin, its nobody's fault but his. And of critisims and jokes that were made at the expense of Harry, the vast majority were spot on.

I guess the only real question I have is, Was last week part of a strategy to get rid of the Tiny one by either driving him out or getting listeners to voice their opinions against him?

(Also, not that it needs to be echoed, but the comment about your son was obviously way out of line. I'm sure karma will take care of that poster, though).

I'm sure Harry will say "it was funny"
Mac will chime in with a "it was sophomoric but, we were just having some fun at the Tiny One's expense"
and Jurko will say something along the lines of "we love you, kid...just bustin' yer chops, that's all it is."
Then Harry will say, "well, it's good to be back."

Mac- The person who made those idiotic comments about you and your son is probably a single unloved douchebag who still lives with his parents in his (or her) basement. That person (whose screen name we won't even mention) probably is just looking for attention.

I didn't get to listen to much of the show last week (can't listen as much at work as I used to), but I can imagine how it went. I know you guys all give each other a little ribbing to keep things lively, so I'm sure it couldn't have been as bad as people are making it out to be. Harry seems like he has thick enough skin to take some blows. Somebody needs to be the punching bag. I know from first hand experience.
