Mac, you've made reference to baseball being the best sports value in town. I'd agree with you insofar as you say best "pro" sports value. I think you'd even agree that a Saturday afternoon up in Evanston is a much better deal... watching a much better sport. If you use the promo code "Pepsi" I still believe you can get endzone tix for half price for the Ohio game this Saturday on nusports.com. That's $13 per ticket. You can't beat that. And guess what, you can move to much better seats because the ushers don't enforce (Not until we do a better job of filling up that stadium at least). Even when we get in to conference play, a good ticket shouldn't cost you more than $36... pretty impressive when you consider what a day at Soldier Field would cost you. And there is reason to be excited about this Cat's team lately.... 1.) We are 3-0 2.) We have a chance to go 4-0 since 1962 (Ara Parseghian anyone?!?) 3.) We got 10 votes in the USA today poll 4.) We got our first 4-star high school recruit since Napoleon Harris in 1997 5.) No major injuries (Knocking hard on wood) . |

It is the best value. You can see minor league baseball or high school football for 3 bucks. You can see college sports for cheap. We're talking pro sports- MLB, NFL, etc. Wrong Section. |

If you statign that then best value ,Hands down Blackhawks cheap seats are $13 and they give discounts to students and Military. plus unlike the Baseball teams they do not make the majority of the home games "Premium" price and its not that huge a price Hike Lets see Blackhawks $13 prem $20 Cubs $16 $20 White Sox $17 $31 Bears $68 So looking at it It comes across as Hockey beign a better Value .If you facotr in Food and Parking ,then Hockey looks even better . Wow Now I know why Comiskey has bad attendence ,those prices are outragous |

[quote="Frank Coztansa"]You can get a Sox ticket on Mondays for $8.50 (Not a shot here) Am I the only one that's noticed that the number of Monday home games has decreased each season over the last 3-4? How do they pull that off if MLB is in charge of scheduling? |

By the way, I totally agree with the Blackhawk value. I didn't even know those tix were available. I still say that seeing these games is alot more exciting than seeing 1 of 40+ home games for the Hawks. Just my opinion. I know some don't get into college sports as much, but I think there is nothing better. Once again, just my opinion. |

Frank Coztansa wrote: You can get a Sox ticket on Mondays for $8.50 chaspoppcap wrote: plus unlike the Baseball teams they do not make the majority of the home games "Premium" price and its not that huge a price Hike Yet. frank there are 6 home monday games that you can get that deal .# others you can not then we go to 45 prime/premium vs 30 reg games .So you mean to tell em that the average game is more expensive than normal. Thats a slap in the face to you Sox fans .So they should just jack the price to the Prime rate .That's disgusting . Only thing worse is the Cubs 51 prime games then you have 6 value games .Only thing that makes the Cubs not as evil as the Sox is that you and I paid for U.S.Cellular.If the Sox do not get a certain level of attendance then they pay no rent. So does the naming rights money go to the Illinois stadium athourity ,no .We got Hosed on that deal . |

What I meant was, the Hawks are very soon going to have Prime and Premium game ticket fees. If they haven't implemented them for the 08-09 season, they will for 09-10. Baseball still remains the best entertainment value. A seat in the first 5 rows right on the baseline in the lower bowl at a Sox game may run you anywhere from $30-$50 depending on the day and the opponent. A seat right on the blue line 2-3 rows off the ice at a Hawks game is probably a couple hundred. |

Post subject: | Re: Best sports value in Chicago |
first off, I agree with you...but isn't that due to the sheer number of games that the price is cheaper? |
Author: | chaspoppcap [ Wed Sep 17, 2008 4:25 pm ] |
Post subject: | Re: Best sports value in Chicago |
There is premium but its only 12 games with 28 at reg price unlike the Baseball teams that are over50% prem games . true on the ice seats are $300 a pop but and this is a big but those are not the best seats to see the game . I still would spend less at a Hawks game than a baseball game .Period . That includes food and Parking .I can't comment on Wrigley ,I have an unfair advantage I get free beer . Even though I am a Huge baseball Fan ,It is far more exciting and engaging at a Hawks game . They try to keep my attention on the Ice ,even between Periods . If you want Lets do liek they did before .We will look at what it costs for a family of 4 to go . Plus I almost forgot the reallllly expensive seats for Comisky are not even for public sale .the so called Scout seats and such. |

My Name is Mud, who is the 4star recruit, you are talking about, I follow Northwestern a little, but only know Sutton and Bacher. I only really have seen them against Syracuse and a little when they played this past Saturday. They should go 4-0 and have a big game next weekend vs Iowa and then 2 tough home games, after those we will see how good they are. I do think they will go to a bowl game this year. |

The new commit (I guess I mispoke when I said recruit) is Patrick Ward from Providence Catholic in New Lennox. He's one of the leading offensive line prospects in the Midwest, and he chose Northwestern over Illinois, Wisconsin and Stanford (also had offers from scholarship offers from Purdue, Arizona, NIU, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Iowa, Missouri, Boston College, Minnesota, Michigan State, Colorado State, Duke, Colorado, Nebraska and Notre Dame). They should go 4-0, but this is the same Ohio team that gave the Buckeyes a run for their money. Admittedly it's another cupcake pre-conference schedule, but we'll take what we can get. They play Iowa in Kinnick the next week, which is never an easy place to play. |

i've been to one northwestern game. it was NU vs. UIUC (UIC generated reference to our "sister" campus ). I believe it was 1998 and was freezing balls cold. I had fun though. It is certainly a great stadium. Quite h.s. like, as it is a very intimate environ to see a college football game. It reminds me of the football "stadium" at Northeastern in Boston..... <- good story btw. |

Both the Wildkitties and Wolves lose on a technicality - one in Rosemont, one in Evanston. |

You can see downtown from Northwestern's campus and if Milwaukee is Chicago's nicest suburb than I think you can take a quick El ride up to Evanston. The El stop is a stone's throw to the stadium. You can also take the blue line out to the Allstate Arena for the Wolves. |

Playing Michigan State this weekend and the line has moved to Mich State -1.5. This should be an excellent game. Supposed to be 80 degrees. |
