Hey Frank & SHARK...here's the numbers that pay the bills. I'm guessing the White Sox played a part in this.

4. WTMX-FM
5. WGN-AM
6. WLEY-FM
7. WVAZ-FM

Maybe not an important slot from a revenue standpoint, but quite a jump for the WSCR crew.

that's nice info, but I listen to the Score regardless of whether they're last or first. I think overall MVP was a 1.6, SCR 1.5. No one outside of they themselves thinks of either station as a player.

I don't know...I guess it's cool that drive time got good ratings for the Score over MJH...I still think B&B is a niche audience (my niche) and are being ill-used in drive time.

It should be addressed to mac who comes in bragging all the time about beating BB, this is the new much more accurate system that will be used from now on. What say you Mac?

MJH were number 1 until Justin disallowed them to post on Redacted.

The board where I snagged the ratings info from (Chicagoland Radio & Media) had a comment from Frank C who I assumed was you since it involved both WMVP and WSCR. If not...my bad. :?

Its probably the Riles/Nostrodamus Mult. He frequently talks about that site under his different aliases and for some reason he has taken a liking (or disliking?) to Frank.

So the new PPM system is going to give B&B the advantage? Hmm. If that's the case... why weren't they ahead of us in the summer book? All three of us took a week of vacation in both July and August. The Score had the first place White Sox. And we always were told by Score execs when we had the White Sox, that was the only reason we outrated WSCR. Interesting.
Terry and Dan have a good show. I mean that. They're bright and informed, veteran talents. I expect their show to do decent business.

I'm not here to brag because finishing 4th isn't our objective. My showmates and I are disappointed whenever we aren't No.1 among men 25-54. That invariably is our goal. Nothing less is cause for celebration.

On an unrelated topic... the Drive continues to excel with adult men. Consistently, WDRV is among the highest rated stations in PM drive. No surprise to me the music of 311 (who I do like), Wilco, hell I can't even recall some of the "new bands" you younger fellas dig... aren't drawing audience. Truth of it is... most of the music produced after 1990 -- not all of it but most of it -- is a footnote on the epic asses of the Stones, Zep, the Who, the Doors, etc.

Mac, I don't know you well and I can't get in your station, but congrats on taking it like a man. B&B shouldn't care about their ratings though, they're meant for a smaller auidence. As far as your musical opinions, I'm with you so far. Stones though, are not my favorite. Too strangle-voicey...

Older people tend to listen to more dated bands. Younger males probaby listen to sports radio or more modern bands. Younger men probably don't listen to tertestical radio. Ipods, satellite radio, etc are probably more the norm. When they're not fucking the livin daylights of some hot young nymphs and caring less about Zeppelin, Wilco, 311 or the Butt Surfers.

I've got "Sports Radio" on when I'm banging my hooker.

Hey Mac, how did Mully and Hanley do compared to Mike and Mike? That's the biggest quetion. What were M&H compared to Pappy's last book?

How did Waddle and Silvy do vs. Larry and Hampy?

Where did MVP rank overall? I don't see them in the top 20...

Here is a link to the 12+ PPM...http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRRating ... icago.aspx

The summary for the competing stations is...

Station - Sept. '08

WSCR-AM - 2.4

WMVP-AM - 1.5

Nothing like a good rationalization to support one's beliefs. :D

Drive time radio programming in a top five market is never "meant for a smaller audience". When each of the sports radio stations in a sports-mad top five market gets small % of adult men to listen during peak listening periods, something is not working.

What kind of shit is this? You seem to deny the fact that they beat you and bring up a book that isn't relevant, then you congratulate them. Then you quickly change the subject to the Drive having a big audience with adult men and how that proves todays music sucks. Well Mac, most guys over 40 aren't listening to new bands. And most young people don't know what the Drive is, they listen to their IPOD and what they find on myspace, FM radio is dying. And apparently your audience is as well. Plus alternative\active rock stations have received a nice ratings boost from the PPM, it's the Urban stations as well as MVP and MJH that have taken a hit.

Who knows? Maybe this PPM system is more accurate and B&B were doing better all along. It just wasn't reflected in the old system. Or maybe this is just a bad book for MJH.

Still, B&B and MJH both do good business. 4th in the male demo isn't bad.

All ratings systems are flawed and I won't defend Mac and his thoughts or say blows is wrong in his opinion but I fired the Score a long time ago and think B&B lost their fastball years ago. I think this board dictates that the Score is not the station the masses listen to hear.

B&B can't draw flies at their remotes as I stopped by yesterdays remote and laughed as about 3 people had interests in the show and the other 30 people were rooting for the Phillies and paying no attention to the show.

I've said before that MJH has an over all better show than B&B and ESPN as a whole has an over all better talent pool but this ratings thing is flawed and really doesn't change my thoughts one way or the other and if someone hear wants to hang their hat that their show has better ratings than the other then they can have it . I could give a fuck.

I just find it funny as I deal with hundreds of people a week who love sports and listen to sports radio and B&B are never mentioned like MJH are. I will again remind you all I was a B&B fan and remain one but just don't have the passion I once had for them as it's gotten played out and stale and Bernstein tends to forget he has a partner and makes it his own show and Terry falls asleep on him.I did get a chuckle out of them yesterday at the remote as I had a few beers with a buddy and left.

MJH would have a bigger audience at remotes than B&B. That makes sense. MJH make you feel like they want to see their fans and talk to you. You hear B&B and you really get the idea they don't want to be around their listeners. Most B&B fans don't want to go up to them or see them at remotes I suspect. Terry doesn't like people and Bernsie is too good for common people. While B&B might shake your hand and give you the token "thanks for listening" they really don't want you to bother them. They'd rather not do remotes but it's money for the station so they have to do it.

I'm cool with that. I don't have an urge to meet radio hosts. I don't have to be their friends. I wouldn't want to bother them anyway. I'm just another jack ass that they would have to pretend to appreciate. I just like listening to them. Same with MJH.

The Score sucks. The only reason I have it on in the summer is because of the White Sox, and the only reason I have it on in the mornings is because Zaidman does his Bears reports at 730am every day.

Mully is too "yelling guy", Terry is like Homer Simpson in the fact that he laughs at and is amused by the littlest things, Bernsie thinks you are dumber than a bag of rocks if you don't agree with him 100%, and "fill ins" are fill ins for a reason, but subs at the Score couldn't hold a candle to those at MVP.

I don't enjoy everything that every show does on ESPN, but the entertainment quotient at AM1000 is about 100 times what it is on 670.

I think Beardown brings up a great point about both shows in where MJH makes you feel your part of the show and Dan and Terry make you feel like their just doing a show. I think they both have quailty shows that appeal to different people and that's not a bad thing but I would agree that MJH gives me the Warm and Fuzzies (to steal a line from an earlier post )than Dan and Terry.

I could care less who has better ratings. Mac has brought up on several occasions that MJH has beat BB in so many consecutive books. Yet a newer more accurate ratings system is used and BB beat MJH and SCR whooped MVP and the best Mac can do is give some non-answer that made no sense and quickly change subjects. I dont like MVP, MJH or Mac, but I respect the guy for coming on here and being so honest. Most radio people are to full of shit or to afraid of the consequences to be as blunt as Mac is here and I think that's really cool. Just seemed like a chicken shit post on his part.
