For some pretty cool photos I took... check out Espnradio1000.com and click on the MJH page. A couple of them are really sharp. That's the result of second-row seats, not my photography skills. I'd post them here... but I'm not that talented.

Per STU-GOTZ's request... a brief review.

The boys opened with "Rock and Roll Train," which is track 1 on their new album. It was tight and followed a non-pretentious, colorful, animated video. Other tunes from "Black Ice" included the title track and "Big Jack," and one other... I think the song is "Acts of War" or something like that.

Something I always loved about an AC/DC show is you never sit. It's high energy, start to finish. Brian Johnson and Angus Young are the show. Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd all are content to pound out the rhythms and stay in the background. Johnson and A. Young played off of each other on occasion -- as they always have -- but most of the time they just go where they want to go and engage the crowd. Angus went to the end of the extension ramp and was lifted up on about a 50-foot riser. He did a solo while crawling around on his side and there was an overhead camera that shot it for the jumbotron. That was a big hit.

"Back In Black" was third on the set list. It rocked. They also did "You Shook Me," "Hells Bells" and "Shoot To Thrill" from that album.

Bon Scott fans -- and he's my guy, too -- were treated to oldies "TNT," "Dirty Deeds," "WHole Lotta Rosie," and "The Jack." "The Jack" traditionally is done so ladies can flash their breasts to the video cameras in the crowd so the whole arena can enjoy them on the jumbotrons. None of the girls at All State would accommodate, however, much to the chagrin of my 13-year-old son. In August of '00 at Tweeter, there were big, firm, breasts all over the joint.

The double encore featured Bon's favorite, "Highway To Hell" and "For Those About To Rock." Good double shot with which to close. I would have loved to hear another cut or two from "Highway" or ANYTHING from "Powerage," but I liked everything they did and the new stuff sounds like vintage Deucey. The rockin' Aussies went on at about 8:30 and finished by about 10:15. That's cool with me. Almost two hours of jumping up and down and sweating is ample at my age.

The crowd was a mixed bag. Many others my age with kids there.... lots of older freaks and lots of 20-somethings as well. My 13-year-old and my 12-year-old nephew busted their rock show cherries in fine fashion. It was loud and proud. Fairly typical night with AC/DC. Predictably awesome. Love those little goofballs.

I threw in a bonus picture to break up the Aussie monotony. ;)

That awesome, Mac. Once you see a favorite band from that close, seeing them again will never been the same. In '05 I saw Pearl Jam from the first row in Missoula, MT and I particularly enjoyed seeing the interplay between the 5 musicians onstage when something went awry. Sounds like you and your son had a great time.

I know Waddle has four daughters, but if he had a son - THAT is what he'd look like.

Am I correct in my observation that Angus was playing the same guitar the whole time...

...if so, I find that cool...not sure why, but I do...

Mac,

Being that I've never seen AC/DC live before, did they play the newer stuff first or did they mix it in with the older "more known" tracks? I can't understand what they would do that. Rock 'n Roll Train to open...understandable....but then kick into some thing "Shook Me" or "TNT".

So if "The Jack" brings out the boobies, what does "Big Balls" bring out? Inquiring minds want to know.....

Every clip I've seen of him, he always plays a Gibson SG, which is how he gets that great sound. Those guitars are pure power, but they have such a thick neck, I don't know how anybody can solo on them. Pete Townshend used to play an SG alot back in the 70s. My guess is Angus has about 6 or 7 different SGs that he uses in a night. In some of the bottom pics there, its a red SG. In some of the pics towards the top, the SG is solid black.

I saw ac dc on the ballbreaker tour and I still remember the show as nothing short of energetic. I have a lot of respect for ac dc because after all these years they've remained a viable band. Despite the adversity of losing bon scott they didn't seem to miss a beat when they came back with "back in black" due in large part to the familiar chords from angus young's guitar.

Most bands I grew up listening to, soundgarden, nirvana, alice in chains(I know they're touring and recording again) have given up. Any many bands give up when they're unable to capitalize on the previous albums' successes. Whether or not the new stuff holds up to the old stuff its cool that bands like aerosmith and ac dc are still providing fans with fun shows to go to.

Mac, my musical education was due to listening to my father's records and not only enjoying the music but appreciating good songwriting. So a pat on the back to you for introducing your sons to the great bands of the past. I wish more young people would broaden their horizons and realize that they aren't limitied to what pop radio says is cool.

I've always enjoyed classic rock- got into Zeppelin, Hendrix and The Cream pretty much on my own. I wouldn't have discovered Jethro Tull and Deep Purple if my dad didn't own their records (yes actual vinyl) and had me listen to them.

I was guessing the first two pics were just taken from an angle/light that made the guitar look black, as i've only ever seen him with the dark red SG...

AC/DC was the best live show I've ever seen....

this was back in 1988 or 1989 (yeah, it was THAT good)

Riding in the back of a big, brown van....WASTED, Houston police motioned us into the large auto parking lot...I thought we were busted.... 19 years old...beer, X, weed...no, the van was just too big.

A guy in the seats behind us had the biggest joint I'd ever seen.....

And they opened with "Thunderstruck"....

when I was starting on electric guitar, I began on an SG...yes, the neck is extremely thick. What always gets me about him is he rarely looks at his guitar, but is doing arrpeggios up and down the neck. Just unreal...

Eh, when you're as good as him, and/or you've been playing that long, you don't need to look. You know just be feel and sound where you are on the fretboard.

I could see this topic turning into a nice 'Bordem Thread'. Best seats at a concert, best show you've seen...etc.

Awesome Mac!!!! Saw them in 1981 on the "For those about to rock tour" and Angus was worth the price of the ticket alone. If there would of been one rock legend to have my last drink with it would of been Bon Scott. I find myself loving the old AC/DC and that's not to take anything away from Brian Johnson but I thought the band was much better with Bon and my first ever expirence of getting stoned was on a "Highway to Hell" album and Bon became a God that day in my eye's and ears. It seemed like that record played for 5 hours but it never sounded better.

How could you not want to have a drink with Bon.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5kmLmjz_c ... re=related

I saw them both nites last week. Only differences were no Rosie on Thursday, but she did show on Saturday. Also Angus wore black Thursday but red Saturday. Same show they always perform so for someone who has seen them 10 times it wasn't all that great. Most likely will not go to see them again. Bon Jovi live is so much better. Always a different show as they change their setlists from nite to nite. Also at a BJ show there are 10 chicks for every dude. At AC/DC it is the opposite.

They played "Whole Lotta Rosie" at the Thursday show. It rocked.

You're insane. AC/DC's a far superior act to see - and I've seen both. I'll give you that the AC/DC act hasn't changed much over the years- but their catalog of music is far superior to Bon Jovi's. I took the wife to the Bon Jovi concert for her B-day back in February, and other than the totally cool video screens, it was pretty much a ho-hum performance - much like it was on their New Jersey tour. As far as their being 10 chicks for every dude, you're probably spot on there. But that's not to say it's 10 NICE LOOKING chicks for every guy. I was pretty underwhelmed by the eye candy at the Bon Jovi concert also. A bunch of middle aged women trying to appear to be younger. Keep 'em. I go to see the act, not the fans.
