Ok, this ought to be a train wreck with Mac actually having to sit thru a live Bulls game but when is the Hawks night you've be chatting about for about a year going to happen?

How much chicken did Slapnuts bring over to the pad? 25lbs you said? :drunken:

A Tuesday night, last row(s) at the UC vs. a crappy Eastern Conference team. Yep, the Bulls really going all out for this one! :P

That's correct, MJH Night at the Bulls-Knicks game on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Upper tank. We will begin giving away the tix today. I'm sure there will be a long line for them.

I have not forgotten about the hockey outing. Their market increase in popularity is going to make a big block of comp tickets a tougher putt.

Slapshot Ed should open a new business: "Slappy's Chicken." The man is crazy. He was one of five buddies I had over for NFL viewage Sunday and he brought enough yardbird to feed a small country. All of the food groups were represented and all of us retired that night with sore sides from the laughter. Best male bonding I've enjoyed since a buddy and I took sons to Canada back in July. A five-star day, thanks to Slapnuts... Golfboy... Three Putt Gene... 1-Iron Mark and AT&T Brian.

Had a blast on Sunday and Mac's set up is just awesome. Hey, when you invite me to a gathering just expect a ton of chicken and the trimmings. I still can't figure out why Mark brings herring but he works for Fannie Mae and the candy is all that and more.

My side still hurts from the laughter as well and you know the Bears game sucks when all of us start telling stories about the weirdest places we have taken shits. Hard to top Mac's as his ficus tree has taken a beating over the years. :P

It's a game the Bulls can actually win at home vs. the John Ratzenberger (as Cliff Claven)-looking Mike D'Antoni, "Ballhog" Jamal Crawford, David Lee and the Knicks at United Center December 9th. Whether or not Eddy Curry & Stephon Marbury will still be on that roster remains to be seen...Those two are wasting away on the Knick bench...

Better wasting away on the Knickerbocker bench than on the floor with the Bulls.

Back in the day Doc i would of had 1 for me and two for you. A good tip for you guys on a tailgate Sunday morning is to hit your local Jewel and grab some bird. Fresh out of the deep fryer I picked up some thighs, legs, drumsticks and about 5 lbs of wings made fresh . A couple of giant cookies with Bears and Packers helmets on them and I was ready for a Bears ass whipping and ready to hang with some long time buddies.

I have to have some of you goofs down here for a Sunday . Grid always has an open invite and I know Mac won't leave his crib to come to Plainfield but anyone else come on by .

No breasts? Dr Ken might want to rethink his invite.

Interesting. Boers and Bernstein believe there's less hockey fans than there has been in the past, and that's why they don't talk it (not that I have any interest in hockey or them talking it).

They're both correct imho.

Mac would be correct, ie the average crowd at the UC for Hawks games last year was (let's say) 5,000. Now they get 15,000 - that's a 200% increase. A MARKED increase - not to mention those listening on radio and now watching on TV.

Boers and Bernstein would be correct in that there probably are fewer fans than the 80s, when the Secords, Larmers, Savards, Lysiaks and Ruskowskis of the world were wildly popular in Chicago. ...and back when Hull, Espo and Mikita played... get outta here.

It'll take the Hawks some time, but if they get to the playoffs and keep adding to the team, they'll get back to where they were.

So far, Grid, so good...The Blackhawks are #1 in NHL attendance so far this season. They're averaging about 21,563 fans per home game. My brother & I took in a game about 2 weeks ago, when the Hawks doused the Flames 6-1 on a Sunday night... It's a far cry from a couple years ago when ESPN The Magazine ranked the Hawks as the worst pro franchise in all team sports, even worse than the Houston Texans, who hadn't played NFL football for real long when the survey came out. The guys at the "Afternoon Saloon" are "Committed to the Indian", and I definitely want to go back soon.

Now, you see - you're wrong. Interest in the Blackhawks HAS been higher. You're probably just too young to realize it.

Interest in the Hawks has never been higher in the past 15-20 years would be an accurate statement.

And (unfortunately) I believe the death of Bill Wirtz has a lot to do with it also. That lifted a black cloud from over the Hawks way of doing business, and allowed his son Rocky to bring the operations of the team into the modern era.

Grid, I think you're absolutely right about the interest in the Hawks. The death of Bill Wirtz has definitely had a lot to do with the revived interest in the team since Rocky Wirtz became Chairman & John McDonough became Team President. For the longest time, there was more interest in the AHL Wolves than there was in the Hawks prior to Bill's death over a year ago.

I think it has to do with the Hawks promotions done at Sox games this past season.

Frank, I believe the word is cross-promotion involving the Hawks promoting their product at "The Cell" this past baseball season, complete with the "Here Come the Hawks" song between innings...

Yes, and the cross promotion worked. Now they need a Dog Day and halfway to Memorial Day at the UC.

How about "Pasty Complectioned White People in Ill Fitting Clothing" Night.

Oh wait... that's most Blackhawks games isn't it. Probably most NHL venues.

This is like when Steve Schanawald was given some credit for like 700 sellouts in a row. All the promotions, contest, atcs. etc.

How about, nobody would have any interest in sponsoring the Baby Race ( a Classic) if #23 was not in the house
