Since I have nothing better to do, here are the notes as the interview moves along. I picked it up online halfway through Jerry's answer on Hester, which I assume questioned his decreased impact on special teams - because he's a WR.

Devin was shifted to WR because nobody was kicking off to him anyways - and he's developing as a WR - the arrow is pointing up.

Jurko asked: Jerry, you talk about upgrading the QB position, the offensive line is getting older, how will it be addressed? Jerry: All the naysayers said our offensive line was weak. How did we look? Josh Beekman started 16 games, and Chris Williams recovered and played a little towards the end of the season - now he's ready to roll. The offensive line is NOT our achilles heal.

Harry asked: Lovie Smith is going to be more hands on with the defense - hasn't he BEEN hands on? Jerry: He's always had one hand in the defense, now he'll have both hands involved - much like most offensive minded head coaches do around the league. It's all hands on deck to turn around the defensive play next year. We've got good football players, they need to be further developed?

Mac followed up: Lovie doesn't really seem too active on game day, never talking into the headset, never getting together with his assistants - he looks like a cigar store Indian. Jerry: Then Tom Landry and Paul Brown are standing in front of cigarette stores too, as well as Tony Dungy.

Jurko asked: Lovie has hired all these fired position coaches. What's going on? Jerry: It goes on around the league John - we set the bar high and average isn't good enough - if you want to upgrade, you've got to try.

Harry asked: You ruled on draft day Jerry - Matt Forte was great. What about a number two RB? (then Harry wiped the loads of Jerry's shit off his nose). Jerry: We like Garrett Wolfe, but we couldn't find a way to get him in there more. We liked Adrian Peterson and Kevin Jones more - and we couldn't get another back in the flow of things along the way.

Jurko asked: I love Alex Brown, he's the most productive guy on the team, and worth every dime he makes - what's with Tommie Harris? Jerry answered: I'm less concerned now than I was going into the season (?????) I feel that Tommie has responded well with the conditioning coaches and medical people leading into the season. Halfway through the season, good things happened again with Tommie.

Harry asked: Why do media people bring personal lives into the business, and do you feel some of your defensive players need a talking to about having kids out of wedlock. Jerry answered: We want guys with good on field and on the practice field conduct - they're young, we're in the perception business - and people are going to report what they report - but ultimately it comes down to on-the-field accountability.

Mac thanked him for his time and they parted ways. .....and then they said afterwards - Jerry speaks straightforward and that should be commended his philosophy, his beliefs. Then they second guessed him on some of his answers. Namely that Devin Hester in the kicking game had a huge impact on their field position whether he was kicked to or not, and they disagree with his 'philosophy and belief' regarding that change.

I'm a bit perplexed why they never asked about Bob Babich being retained, yet they were pretty quick to be critical of Lovie retaining him and getting rid of the others - and getting rid of Chico. Who knows, maybe that's because that was a question for Lovie Smith
