She said this in an email to Harry. Mac said he and Paula have exchanged emails over this. He says he'll talk about it later in the show.

Paula said this in response to Mac ripping Daryl Hawke in the Sun-Times.

I like Paula that much more even though Mac has the right to rip Hawke.

I'm willing to bet that Paula won't be pleased that Mac brought this up on the air. She'll be scared that it will ruin her "good girl" image. She shouldn't worry about that. It's nice to see she has some fangs. Finji was playing "cat sounds" in the backround as they discussed Paula.

Mac talked about e mail he and Paula exchanged after Mac was told of her e mail to Harry. Mac told her she should e mail him if she has a dispute. Not Harry. Mac said her e mail described him as the "jilted bride" cuz he wasn't brought back as a regular on NBC 5. Paula thought Mac was under the impression he would be a regular. Mac said that wasn't the case. He said that's not why he blasted Hawke in the Sun-Times. Mac said he wouldn't do NBC 5 every week for the $350 they were going to pay him.

Paula is right. Funny, the great Mac gets slapped around by Paula. I guess TV isn't in the future for the great egomaniac. Does he have a book still coming out? He can't write, as he clearly shows in the joke column in the dying Suntimes. I look forward to seeing Mac in the media graveyard section. You know it's coming.

Why was she writing emails to Harry?

Her show isn't good enough for the jilted bride anology. Maybe stood up for coffee date.

I could see where she would be salty with Mac. He hasn't said many nice things about her show. She is right for that. Maybe she thinks he is a dick. He should call that guy from the Bears and get her suspended.

That's the only thing she did wrong. She should have e mailed McNeil.

I think you're right, Spaulding. It does go deeper, for Paula, than just Mac's "Hawke" column. He did bash her show on a regular basis. That's the real reason Mac was never invited back. After he was on the first show he bashed it the next day and several other times. Both here and on the radio.

How boorish.

Maybe Mac could set her straight by calling her a bitch on-air.

He wasn't invited back because he wasn't very good. Nothing more than that.

In the end, Mac does stuff like this to stir it up. It's all harmless. "Verbal masturbation" as Mac would describe it. It provides content for his show. Something to fill 4 hours.

I'll bet this is the first confrontation that Paula has had since she's arrived in our fair city. You can tell, by the media guests on her show, she's got the boys in our media in love with her. Larry Holmes had his tongue hanging out when he was on the show. He would lust over her on his radio show. Silvy, Carm, Hood and others were the same to a lesser degree. Silvy gave her a birthday gift on that TV show for the love of God. You think he'd do that if Peggy were hosting and it were her birthday?

Paula knows she's got the weird guys in our media in love with her. That's the one thing about beautiful women. They know everybody wants to bang them.

Ya think any of those guys would criticize her show? No. Don't want to make Paula mad. Why? Cuz she's pretty.

Paula was wrong to call Mac classless over this. Mac has done classless things but this isn't one of them. I know Paula wants everybody to be nice and for everybody in Chicago media to tell each other they are great. But life is boaring that way and it's phony.

For the record, I think Paula is talented. I've said that before. The problems with her show were the weird media guests and the production. But it's nice to see somebody in the media not gush over her. Mac doesn't have to. He's already got his trophy wife.

That NBC 5 show sucks, both in production and content. Every shot taken at it, by us or somebody 'in the biz' is deserved. For a major market to have trash like that on TV is pretty sad.

Frank, you must not watch much locally produced programming. Aside from the occaisional WTTW pieces, what of it is actually even decent?

Paula is coming to the aid of a teammate and I give her credit for that but that show is a train wreck and if you want to put her show up against the "Final Word" then her and Ginger Zee should get together and do a lingerie show during the 10:30 Sportscast because I aint watching unless they're in some bras and panties.

I don't find Paula to be anything special as a Sportscaster and I think a gal like Kerry Sayers brings more to the table as a reporter.I've seen Kerry work Hawks and Sox games and it seemed she was into her craft and she worked her ass off.

Mac and Paula will kiss and make up and with any luck he get her over to his Hall of Fame room and shock her with his views on life.

Final Word
Comcast Pre & Post game shows
Instant Replay

If nothing else, at least those shows get scores and players names right. The same cannot be said of NBC's "show." Plus, there is nothing even remotely close to as cheesy as the 'Fan den' on any local weekly sports show.

You seem like a genuinely nice guy SSE, and I know you included the winky thing at the end, but that was an awfully douchebaggy thing to say.

If you can't see why that's an ignorant thing to write, there's not much I can really say. I'd expect better from him.

You gotta be able to take a joke, Irish Boy.

I'll bet Paula and Ginger come here. They'll read it and laugh.

I like Kerry Sayers, but not to the point where I will say she (or any other local on-air TV 'talent') work their asses off. Locally glorified jr. sideline reporters at best. Some are better than others, but none really add much that the random microphone left open wouldn't.

...and IB, keep in mind that this web site had alot of hits on the thread featuring an engorged Mother Paula Faris....lets not get all outraged here.

If you seriously have issues with the NFL playoffs, but can't laugh at Slappy's comment, there's not much I can really say except for, "Lighten up, Francis."

Maybe I expect more from some people than 'the show would be better if they acted like the pieces of meat I think they are' or some equivalent. I don't mean to be Mr. Sensitive, but like I said, it should be pretty clear what's wrong with that. And I'm pretty sure they wouldn't enjoy a hearty chuckle about it either.

And I'm pretty sure that if by some strange reason Ginger Zee and Paula happened to do a segment in bikinis or lingerie one night, at least one TV in the IB household would be tuned in.

I guess when you submit your membership to the MJH ass-licking society, you take on the characteristics of those whose asses your lips are so firmly planted on. "Classless ass" seems about right.

This won't be popular around here, but I'd posit that anything featuring the tired, retread segment featuring Giangreco is equally high on the 'cheese' scale. As to the shows you noted, they are about as entertaining as the "Night Owl" programming that ran on Ch. 32 back in the late '70's/early '80s.

Recognizing that you weren't alive then, "Night Owl" was literally a scroll/series of screens that provided news, weather and sports scores w/no graphics and a classical soundtrack playing in the background from 1-5am(?). Really.

This has nothing to do with MJH. It has to do with a horrible show on NBC 5 on Sundays, and you seemingly needing to join a Dr Phil message board.

Wow, I had forgotten about that. It was cutting edge for the time, I guess.
