Don't do the column at all, he's too fat too type, errors galore. Grease on the keyboards, yuck!

Mac is cross with Darryl because Darryl can fit into his clothes and doesn't have to wear moo moos to cover his flab.

Walt, Malone: It's 2pm and no bashing of Mac's column?
I read it but it was thoughts I had heard all week on the radio. Coming up with relevant and interesting topics must be tough.

Not true, but you are clearly the Sergeant at Arms of the Mac ALS. Maybe if you're real good he'll invite you over to that Home Depot-outfitted basement to shine his shoes.

No.1 : today's column was uinspired. I am donating my weekly fee to autism research.

No.2: I eat popcorn, but rarely yellow corn... the kind discussed a few posts back.

I assume you meant uninspired.

I guess you woke Kenny Williams up with this nugget:

Can't remember the last time the White Sox have been this quiet for this long. Maybe Ozzie Guillen can drop by the Cubs Convention this weekend and offer thoughts on why he hates Wrigley Field.

Bartolo Colon... we got 'em where we want 'em now. Bartolo Colon in 2009 = Esteban Loaiza in 2008

Mac, did you write the article with these?

I think you need to look for subject matter that is more timeless and for which you have a passion. Telander may have become a snore, but he aspires to greatness with his choice of subject matter. I know it is side job, but a week gives you some time to think of macro matters to discuss. The mundane is for beat writers. The columnist has the possibility to be an artist.

Not even close. I know it's probably hard to believe, but more than just me thinks he's coasting. Apparently the mothership, NBC5 and a few others here thinks so too. Too bad, it used to be a good show but now it's mediocre crap at best. The column sucks also.

Mac already states his opinions on a daily basis, so it might be hard to still sound original with his column copy.

So Tealander and Jay should be lauded

The real tragedy is that he actually wrote about the Bulls. They aren't worth the paper that was printed on, much less the donation to charity or the time put into writing the article.

Macs column was definatley not a poignent column was it now? Murph is probably at home trying to muster enough courage up to call Mac and thank him for the column of sports spurts (insert sound drop if you chose). Obviously the Bulls are terrible, Blackhawks have a limited appeal for now, college basketball is missing in Chicago (paging Depaul, Northwestern, Loyola, UIC,.....), and really what new thoughts can be had about da bears. Not much exciting stuff to write about in the Chicago sports landscape as of right now. Mac maybe you should've just wrote about your son and the autism research, not everyone has read about your familys experiences with autism, and with a national paper like the ST you may have helped the reserch more than you donating this weeks fee will. Just a thought.

Thanks buddy :thumright:

Actually thought I was, it was a serious thought for a serious subject. The sports landscape is barren right now, Macs family story has been written about is some small Indiana newspaper, I figuured a story of a sports media members home life might bring light to a serious subject. So when Mac says he is going to donate to the Autism reserch fund, maybe the better donation is use your (Macs) luxury of writing in a big boy newspaper to bring light to a subject that is near and dear to his heart which may help donations to the reserch fund. Now maybe someone will rail on him for taking advantage of a position at the ST to benefit himself, but that is the person I would really call out and rip. I think for all of the things I find that I dislike about Mac, I still remember that he has a family and has shown immense dedication in being there for them. For that I give him a thumbs up.

So in short Brians Mojito, as much as you would like to portray my comments as a low blow, I think you are mistaken.

That's what I get for reading into your post. I just took what was stated in the media graveyard section (about Mac and North), and thought you were taking a swipe at Mac.
You appear to be more open-minded that I gave you credit for.
Sorry about that.
That's what I get for being a member of the MJH ALS.

Hey no problem, to overstate the issue, I think the subject of Autism, with Mac living with it in his life 365 days a year, why not take advantage once in a while of the position he is in. If I had a family member who had a medical issue, and I was in his position, I (my opinion mind you) would exploit the hell out of it to bring awareness to the issue. That my friend is called beating a dead horse on a subject. Enough said.

Im a big fan of Mac and the MJH show. But I find it kind of ironic that Mac writes a column blasting Chicago media, telling everyone, including himself, that a better job needs to be done, then his very next column he admittedly mails it in.
Who's he crapping
