I tried to tune in to B&B yesterday during the Bulls post-game show, and I punched the dial soon thereafter... I can't put my finger on it, but there's something inherently wrong with their attitudes that rubs me the wrong way. Yesterday they were beating up senile ole Lou because he admitted to reading books by John Wooden and Phil Jackson. So they beat the guy up because the Cubs are paying him so much money, blah blah blah.... Slap a Steve Alford name badge on him and exile him to Bolivia... So I tuned in to Carm, Jurko and Harry. ..and I think they did all right. Carm came out strong, which I liked - not tentative whatsoever. Jurko was more participative, even after the 5PM hour. Harry seemed to behave as if he can say or do whatever he wants to do now, with no repercussions. It was a very relaxed atmosphere in what I'm sure was a pretty stressful situation. Let's see how things play out... Day Two is under way. |

At first it was like when Mac is on vacation..........but later as I kept waiting for Mac to jump in and say something I would actually want to listen to........the realization came that that is never going to happen again. Made me sad. B & B is a fun listen if you are in the mood but now it's the only thing out there. |

I think the show will slowly deteriorate. Harry and Jurko will be canned, and Carmen back to his random roles. Without Mac, Harry goes into his long stories/tangents and veers the show of course. |

Titillating. They've spent 15 minutes debating about how you should calculate the odds of winning the Hawks promotion. These guys are on a roll! |

I haven't been able to listen to Day 2. Any mention of them doing Critics today? I'll hang up and listen for my answer. |

Ryno's Wife wrote: As much as I like Mac, I want Carmen and the gang to suceed. I'm glad the show is going well. Don't bother. This is a set up for Carmen. He will host with Jurko and Harry until Jurko's contract is up. When Jurko's contract is not renewed he will host with Harry until Harry's contract is up. When Harry's contract is not renewed they will ask Carmen to turn off the lights as they go to national programming. Besides, I'm simply not willing to give a new show featuring Harry a chance, especially when there is a superior alternative |

No offense to Carmen but management made a business decision that destroyed a product that I enjoyed greatly. You may get a chance when Boers and Bernstein are on vacation just like they got. I agree with good dolphin. National programming is soon to come on ESPN 1000 in greater numbers. |

Carmen- What tips can you guys offer now that I'm in the show. Jurko- No sex the morning of. Keep your legs. Harry- Have sex in the morning so your loose. 5 minute debate ensued WTF This is sports radio? If my radio were doubled as a shotgun, I'd be dead. |

Harry sounds like an idiot when he continues to say "We're the Afternoon Saloon, we talk sports, have fun, and talk about guy stuff..." or whatever the hell he keeps saying once an hour. Does he think listeners are jumping over from the B&B Show or something? It's kind of moronic. Probably something Justin Craig thought up to justify his existance. I think as a mea culpa to the guys, Justin should take them to dinner tonight. |

If you are still listening to this show, you must have liked the shows that were produced at times Mac was on vacation or suspended. I never cared for them. I thought they were awful and never could get halfway throught them, before putting a CD on, or another radio station. I will not give this show a chance. I have a very good idea of what it will be like and I'm not interested. I wish Jurko and Harry the best of luck, because I like them as guys, but not so much as radio hosts lacking Mac's lead. |

This is what I get for being out of town. I leave for a few days, and Mackey's gone!!! What in the Sam Hell is going on over at AM 1000? And now, I am listening to the new saloon, and they're talking politics??? Northy tried that and failed miserably. Carmen, stick to sports, for the love of God! You've got impossibly large shoes to fill, and you have to stay focused on why we loved the old MJH show. It had nothing to do with Obama stumbling over the oath of office (although it was kind of funny). There's no way I am bailing to the Score, but this is not a good start for the new Saloon. Regards, all. Good time for me to come on board... |

Today, they should have never tried to figure out the odds from winning the money, or just said we will take one person to call about it, not a whole segment, it seemed like an hour. On the game they did, you didn't know how many questions there were or how to know when you won, it was basically a bunch of questions asked and they somehow kept score. If they have these games, it should be like Jurco vs Harry or a version of it where Jurco and Carm are partners with the listener and they answer together. Carmen at the end did say they were having supper tonight with the upper management, probably not much will happen there. I will give Jurco props for telling Carmen in the oath to say no to Harry when he wants to try something. For right now this show just sounds bad and will be tough to gain new listeners, and will start losing the old listeners. Friday at their remote could be intresting. |

I listened for a short time today, and thought Harry is still a giant ass, Jurko seems more engaged and Carmen is trying to imitate Mac. I normally like Carmen, but I think he is trying way too hard to be like Mac. Carmen, if you do read this, be yourself and tell Harry to STFU. They should have fired Harry along with Mac. Then you would have had the chance of a decent show. |

Rename the show the "Afternoon Lagoon" with the hopes Harry sinks to the bottom of it. |

good dolphin wrote: Carmen is 2009 speak for Grover, the Howard Stern replacement. I think you mean Rover. Carm isn't that bad, but he's an awful fit right now. Blow this up, move Waddle and Silvy to afternoons and start fresh 9-noon with Haugh, Dickerson, H. Griffith or some other combination. The show was painful this afternoon. |

I may have to try to make it to the remote on Friday to see how that goes. I like Carm, but I think it's the wrong thing to do just to throw him in Danny Mac's shoes to see if he can continue to drive the ship. Carmen is best as himself, and would benefit from having his own people surrounding him - not the Good Kid & Happy Harry. MJH were radio magic, and we all knew it would come to an end. I will wait to see where McNeil lands and give him a shot there... As for S&W on afternoon drive...I don't think I could handle it. Jurko vs Harry replaced with "Would you rather?" Critics At XL replaced with My Wife or Radio Partner? Hell...just bring back Rome! |
