I listen for literally 5 minutes today and Jurko's claiming the Saints receiving corps is better then the Cowboys? I checked out the show in hopes it was getting better not worse. OMG Jurko is actually losing IQ points.

2008
Dallas top 3
TO 1052
Witten 952
Crayton 550
Total = 2,554

NO top 3
Moore 928
Henderson 793
Colston 760
Total = 2,481

2007
Dallas top 3
TO 1355
Witten 1145
Crayton 697
Total = 3,197

NO top 3
Colston 1202
Patten 792
Henderson 409
Total = 2,403

2006
Dallas top 3
TO 1180
Glenn 1047
Witten 754
Total = 2,981

NO top 3
Colston 1038
Henderson 745
Bush 742
Total = 2,525

So Jurko which year was the Saints receivers better? Jurko who you CRAPPIN'?

I didn't here Jurko's proclamation - but he might have meant 'moving forward' I'd rather have the Saints receiving corps...

And was he including TEs and RBs in the conversation?

So total yards is the only measuring stick for receivers?

Not to mention your 2008 analysis does not even include Roy Williams.

Cowboys are stacked.

I don't think his statement is too far-fetched. Remember, Colston did miss 5 games due to injury so using his total yardage stats isn't very fair to this arguement. Also, you're including Witten's (Tight End) yardage. To be fair, Jeremy Shockey caught 50 balls this year for the Saints. Let's face it, Drew Brees doesn't exactly have a cannon for an arm, so using total yardage in a comparison of receiving corps can be deceiving. If you look at a stat such as receptions, the Saints have 7 guys with 30 or more receptions. Since you included Witten in the comparison, shouldn't you also consider Reggie Bush's 52 catches too? They do put him out in the slot quite a bit. Looking at it this way, Reggie Bush (52 catches), Shockey (50), Moore (72), Henderson (32), Colston (47), and Billy Miller (45) is pretty damn good. Pierre Thomas also caught more than 30 passes. The Cowboys had 5 players with 30 or more catches, one of them being Marion Barber. I inclued Roy Williams' numbers w/ the Cowboys.

I believe that weak armed Drew Brees threw for the most plays over 40 yards this year.

Owens, Williams, Crayton, Witten and Barber are better than Colston, Moore, Henderson, Shockey and Bush by just about anyone's estimation.

Drew Brees doesn't have a cannon?

What do you call it, a howitzer?

Only looking at yardage statistics in evaluating the value of a teams receiving corps is a little short sighted, isn't it? I'm not saying i agree with Jurko, but just using statistics to make a comparative point is rather lacking.

Going forwards backwards and sideways Cowboys are better at every skilled position with the exception of QB. Not only better at RB, WR, & TE but deeper at each position also.

Yards are not the only measurement. Go ahead and throw up some other indicators.

Jurko & Harry did include Witten vs. Shockey in the conversation and it mostly revolved around the top 3 "receivers". That's why I included Bush the one year he was 3rd on the team in receiving yards.

Good news is I wasn't tempted to listen in to this crap. I think I've finally completely weened myself off the "Saloon". Thug will be rockin' sober now ;)

Jurko also proclaimed to everyones shock and horror last year that the Bears should trade Hester....Give it more than 5 minutes and hear the mans arguments. He knows a thing or two about the game.

He knows two things about the game. Good for him.

Can anyone give 23 some time to develop? Or does everyone want to just give away our most dynamic player? :roll:

People still consider Roy Williams a good receiver? One season over 850 yards in his career. A whopping 36 catches for 430 yards in 15 games (11 started) this year and two touchdowns, all while playing opposite of two of the NFC's best WR. Honestly?
