The Three Amigos love to push the 'once you go to a game you will be hooked" thing.

I would like to dismiss that as pure myth.

I have enjoyed my trips to the UC and I will go back.

Will even add that as someone who has played plenty of sports (Badminton, Tennis, Cricket, Curling, etc) I did get a better appreciation for the teamwork and strategy involved instead of the puckless mess it looks like on TV.

So while I enjoyed it more, I am not going to put a Hawks game in the LOVE category yet.

Hey, the cool jerseys do help though.

Like I have said, you have 25+ years of shit to come back from.

I don't think hockey is that type of sport. I think you have to have somebody wiling to explain it to you and bring you through it. It requires effort. A lot of the people I know going to the games aren't watching much on TV. It's like the Bulls 90-00'. I think for many they are fun to watch because they are good. It's easy to watch almost any sport when it's played at a high level especially a fast paced one.

The NHL Experience:

1) Buy a $120 jersey with a player's name that will likely be gone in a few years.
2) Park in the $32 parking lot because you get scared of the number of homeless people in the area.
3) Walk in with your date, who has never been to a hockey game but you are sure she is going to enjoy it because, well, because its hockey.
4) Walk around the first floor to HawkQuarters and walk in. Date says "Wow, the Bulls play here too? Do they have anything from Michael Jordan?" Buy her one of those giant foam hats and hope she doesnt see a picture of Patrick Sharpe.
5) Go up to your seat and when the Anthem starts, describe to your date that yes, they are all screaming and clapping for the Anthem, and no, they have no clue why they actually do it.
6) When the game starts, have your date get up before the whistle and get screamed at so that she learns to never do it again.
7) When there is a few minutes left in the game, explain to your date why the goalie may leave the net, and its not because he doesnt want to play anymore.
8) Tell your date that you are sorry she didnt have any fun at the game and go home.

A+ Any given game you see that couple at least 10 times. Speaking of parking, I always use the lot on the corner of Washington and Wolcott...i think it's Red Top parking. 17$, one block walk and Washington is a one way so easy to get out of.

#3 is so true, you know for a fact that they'll enjoy it, and yet they don't, and still yet you never learn your lesson, and repeat all of these steps again with another girl...

yeah...those homeless guys love sleeping in parking lots. lots of cover from the elements...

i park on madison, just west of the combination KFC and Taco Bell.

I do believe the on air love for hockey from Tres Amigos and any on air people is well rooted in continued free tickets! Even the big on air shooters know these are not only hard tickets to get , but are not cheap! Thus the constant promo is for keeping their hook up, gotta have a good Hawk hookup!

My buddy started watching last year after going to games and is absolutely hooked. Watches as many TV games as he can when he doesn't go to the games.

I went to my first two games this year. I admit, in person I can't take my eyes off the action. On TV still, fuh-get about it.
