Per Robert Feder... show will continue with just Carmen and Jurko.

That's pretty cold. Let him finish a show and then fire him.

I'm not happy that he lost his job but this is a good thing for the show itself.

Maybe those in da' toilet ratings forced their hand.

Sucks when anybody loses their job.

This part got me wondering:
Quote:
Thursday was his final show with Carmen DeFalco and John Jurkovic, although listeners didn't know it was the last call for Carmen, Jurko & Harry. Neither did Teinowitz, who was told after he got off the air.

So did Carmen and Jurko know before the show aired?

The revolution is in progress.

Post subject:  Re: Harry gone from ESPN 1000

ESPN even waited until after the show to tell him and the rest of the crew.

I'm sure they were worried that Harry would get high and drunk and fly off the handle on the air or something.

Speeps should hold on to the Revolution...especially if ESPN doesn't fuck up and actually retools the show and makes it a better product.

Despite the ups and downs of Harry, I think he meant well overall. The show will improve with just Carmen and Jurko -- still probably not enough to contend with B&B though.

I'll be listening to ESPN 1000 this afternoon, the first time in a long, long time.

Harry had been bad since day one, he was lucky to get paychecks for 13 years. This is good,I can start listening now.
If they lose waddle and promote hood they will beat the score in ratings continually.

I am not a fan of Carmen, but that could change since he wont be constantly giving Harry courtesy laughs at awful jokes.

Kind of a shitty way to let the guy go. While not a fan of his I did enjoy some of his schtick in the old MJH
days and if nothing else he knew how to punch DaMaNa's buttons sometimes. They should have at least
given him a few minutes to say his thank you's to his co-hosts and fans of the show. Hope he can find something
he enjoys doing. Not sure what kind of money he was making. Assuming he will pick up what is due on his
remaining contract.

Not sure who at the station gave the news to Harry. Can't imagine it was a good day for Adam Delevitt (especially if he was the one to give the news), who has worked with Harry, probably for just as long as Jurko did. Adam was originally the show's ("stout and powerful") executive producer.

Why? This is not like the 80s..you get fired, you still communicate with people via twitter or various outlets. He was very lucky to not get canned after the dui/weed case n demanding the mayor of skokie hit the front page.

Only having listened to Harry Teinowitz maybe 5 times total, I get that everyone thinks he's horrible but I don't have as much perspective as others. Is it possible that there would be interest from the Score? I could see him as a third wheel on the Mully and Hanley show.

So is this the Revolution gaining ground? Or taking a hit?

I think this pretty much says ESPN Execs are idots for firing Mac. Ratings have taken a steady dive since his departure.

if this was a real Chicago radio station I would say Jurko is sitting pretty, but it is managed by some exec suits, so they value a name like Waddle, over a personality like Jurko.

Silvy and Jurko, afternoons should be next.

This shit-canning has been brought to you by Katie O'Connor's. Tired of that annoying third wheel dragging you down? Do what Chris in Joliet and spanky do and come on down to Katie O's. But don't tell Chus.

My feelings exactly.

I dont wish any ill will upon Harry personally, but I am glad he is off the air. I also will try the afternoon show a bit more now.

Honest question here from a n00b:

I've noticed over the years of posting here that Jurko has rarely, if ever, been criticized for anything. In my sporadic moments of tuning in for a few minutes, all I heard was a meatball ex-jock. I guess I'm wondering - what's so great about Jurko?

He's a pretty funny guy. Seems self-aware and owns the meatball ex-jock schtick. I havent listened enough lately to give an actual critique of him, but back in the MJH days I dont remember there being a lot to criticize. He knew his role and played it well.
