I don't fancy myself as a 'college football pundit', but PLEASE dear God, I hope MJH does not beat the fact that Ohio State hasn't played since November into the ground. While Florida hasn't had as long of a layoff, they beat the living phuck out of Ohio State. After the early kick return, Ohio State put up ONE TOUCHDOWN the remainder of the game. Not too many games are going to be won that way. THAT is not because of a long layoff - that is because they got out-played, out-coached and out-hustled. When Coach Sweater Vest went for it on fourth down in the shadow of his own goal posts late in the first half, I knew Ohio State's goose was cooked. I don't even try that against young Mad Max in Madden for pete's sake. Thumbs up to Ron Zook on a helluva recruiting job!!! |

I hope for the same thing Grid - Mac's claim that OSU, regardless of what were to happen last night, was the national champion in his mind looks stupid now. The Buckeyes in particular, and the Big Ten in general, showed this bowl season they are nowhere near the the best conference in the nation this year. Their two best teams were out-and-out embarrassed on the field. Sorry Mac, but if you think it has anything to do with the layoff, then you must think all national championships have been meaningless, since they have all taken place a month or more after a team's last game. As has been belabored at this point, Tressel was 4-0 in games with a 40 day or more layoff going into this contest. He made ZERO adjustments during the course of the game, continuing to play a zone defense that was absolutely picked apart. Why? Because he knew he did not have the athletes to keep up with Florida's offense. And I hope you don't use the Ted Ginn excuse - last I checked, he didn't play defense. |

While I agree the game would have been more competively played had it taken place in mid-December - the fact of that matter is both teams knew 'the stipulations of the bowl game' going into it. I do agree that the football is not as good because of the long layoff, but that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things... It is what it is. |

Good gracious, did you see Troy Smith's final stats? USUALLY when a team is getting blown out, the losing QB has incredible passing yardage numbers. 4/14 for 35 yards !!!!!!!!!!!! 10 rushes for MINUS 29 yards So total yards from Troy Smith: SIX yards I'm just trying to figure out WHICH of Troy Smith's six offensive yards was my favorite. Things were SO bad for the Buckeyes, Ginn hurt his foot CELEBRATING his touchdown. |

It was enough hearing M&M continually mentioning the layoff in passing, "Well, Florida was the better team last night, but 40 days ago, who knows?" Garbage. |

I don't want to hear the usual crap from losing teams, their coaches, fans and media supporters that the losing team didn't bring enough passion or emotion or that they were "flat". That is the single largest excuse for losing these days and it's usually a bunch of nonsense. Let's just admit the simple fact that Florida was the better team. They had more team speed, were better prepared, had better play calling, a faster defense, and more experienced and more talented players (particularly on defense). Maybe the reason Ohio State didn't seem emotional was because they were getting their ass kicked. How many teams who are losing badly show much emotion? Troy Smith was exorting his offensive line with emotion well into the fourth quarter. The problem was his offensive line knew they were getting beaten and the other team was better. No amount of emotion was going to change the outcome of the game because Florida was the much better football team. |

What I'd like to hear today from MJH is some real honesty--that midwest football is highly overrated. The Big 3 (Ohio St., Michigan and ND) all got their asses kicked. End of story. |

Needless to say, all is quiet here...much to my pleasure, and I enjoyed the game. But people here are complaining about the layoff, when maybe they should be complaining about the coaching, the team thinking they only had to show up (much like Miami did against OSU back when), or their star WR getting injured while celebrating his touchdown. |

Psycory, let your scarlet and silver brethren know there is an open invite to defend their point of view here - there is simply no logical argument that can say OSU is the better team. I think you need to put USC ahead of them too, but that's open to argument. |

Typical, Psycory. Fans looking for reasons to rationalize a loss. Ohio State DID show up. They were very enthusiastic and focused when it was 7-0. The real message in Ohio ought to be "The Buckeyes are not who we thought they were." |

One might say that he pulled a "Grossman" I don't agree. The problem was Smith and his mates were overwhelmed by the fastest defense they had ever seen. He had a bad game because the defense controlled the line of scrimmage and pass coverage. He had nowhere to throw because the secondary was faster than the receivers and they weren't getting separation. |

I also hope we don't have to hear about that scribe that won't vote for any baseball players who played between 1994 and 2004 (or whatever years it was). They steer clear of any steroid banter, so I'm not too worried about them beating it into the ground. I also wonder if Mac will draft the Cowboys defense this Friday during their fantasy football draft, seeing as he drafted the Saints defense last week - and still won. |

"This is what happens when you have 7+ weeks of lag time." - Mac Come on, Mac, Florida would have beat them in August, September, October, November or December. End of story. Give them their credit - Ohio State had no answer for them. |

Yes, but it's not 'over the top' gnashing of the teeth, pounding on the console type criticism. I agree that it would have been a better game had it been played a month ago, but I don't give a crap... if Ginn went out early due to excessive celebration, Florida still would have won. |

If we had a playoff system OSU might not of even got past LSU or USC . I think we moved a step or two closer to a playoff with this happening . I heard about half dozen coaches state this today and that includes Mac Brown , Stoops , Urban Meyer and Pete Carrol. I think by 2010 we will have a playoff in place. |

There's two things I don't understand about football: A) Why is it called the BIG TEN when there are 11 teams? B) Why are the Cleveland Browns helmets orange. Shouldn't they be brown? |

This after Jurko sang a little ditty for us. |
