Per ProFootballTalk.com: Multiple league sources tell us that the Arizona Cardinals have selected Texans assistant Mike Sherman to be their next head coach. Chico can be their D-coordinator now - since he's not contractually obligated to the Bears beyond their next loss.... or after their Super Bowl victory. I don't think Chico is gonna get a Head Coaching gig. Things aren't lining up for him. Unless he wants Race Bannon with a couple of crossed bones on the side of his team's helmets |

His window is closing quickly. If the Bears defense has a bad game Sunday, he is as good as done for head coach material this year (and maybe for good). |

Hootman, I'd argue that he has zero chance of a head coaching gig in the NFL this year. Who's left? Miami? He wants a big name - he's all about image. I felt he hired Wanny as a favor to Jimmy Johnson. Keep an eye on that Pete Carroll situation. Pittsburgh? I highly doubt a loyal owner / management team would turn their backs on a current coach like the two vying for the job. Oakland? I'd argue that their current D-Coordinator is BETTER than Ron Rivera. His mullet aside... Buddy's kid has quietly put together a helluva defense out there - without the benefit of any 'big name stars'. And don't give me Warren Sapp... his best days are in the rear view mirror. Kirk Morrison is a beast of a linebacker, and their secondary is very solid. They'll hire an offensive minded head coach, that Al Davis can keep under his thumb. |

So is the majority of his ass.... Chico will get a job, I wouldn't worry for him. He's good, he just needs everything to fall into place. Watch out for the Giants in a year or two. |

Does anyone find it interesting that Bill Cowher is taking a one-year sabbatical and the Giants extended Coughlin for exactly one year? Is it too early to start the Cowher to the Giants rumors for next year? |

And I GUARANTEE you this.... When Chico is elsewhere, he will NOT run the Cover 2 defense. To this day it amazes me that he was the 'coaching' fall guy for Lovie Smith's stubborn ways in last year's playoff loss. Who runs the defense? Lovie or Chico - that is the question. |

Cowher had one year remaining on his contract, hence the 'one year' sabbatical. I don't put too much into the one year extension for Coughlin either, they need to get a GM and they don't want him to be stuck with Coughlin for too long. |

How about the AZ Cardinals hiring Mike Sherman? If you're a Cardinals fan - and thank God you're not - aren't you pissed about this? I can't help but think Chico's chances will improve if the Bears reprise their red-ass beat-down of the Seahawks Sunday. Chico's chances for what exactly? |

No, you're probably more pissed that you are a Cardinals fan. |

i thought the extension was through 2008 yes? under contract for the '07 year, and an extension through 08. could be a 2 year leave for cowher. |

Quote: Instead, he received a one-year contract extension through the 2008 season. Many fans will be outraged by this and more than a few Giants players may be wincing at this very moment, but Mara insisted "We remain convinced that he is the right man for the job."
