Gird calls Coppock and at first didn't know he was on the air. Grid told Bruce not to talk football.

Grid, I love you with your trends but the one where you cry "no dome team has ever won an out door Super Bowl" doesn't really fly.

There's not much of a sample to call it a trend. If I'm not mistaken there have only been 3 dome teams to make a Super Bowl. The Rams twice. (99 and 01) They lost one and won one. And the Falcons in 1998. Who got killed by the Broncos. I think both Rams Super Bowls were in domes. So the Falcons are the only one to play outside. 0-1 is not a trend Grid.

I simply called the 'phone guy' to correct Bruce, as he said the Bears had a losing record against the AFC 1-2.

WRONG.

So that was the only reason I called. I even told the guy I didn't want to go on the air, I just wanted to give Bruce the ability to correct himself.

I loathe being on the air + I was driving through a forest preserve in St. Charles and my cell sucked.

The phone guys says: You're on the air!

and the rest as they say is history.

The Colts sucked on the road (.500 regular season record), and lost most of their games on natural grass:

Nov 19 @Dallas Lost 14-21
Dec 3 @Tennessee Lost 17-20
Dec 10 @Jacksonville Lost 17-44
Dec 24 @Houston Lost 24-27

And the domed teams have never won a Super Bowl outdoors. The only domed team to win, won in a dome.

You can say that's 'not a trend' - but it's an indisputable fact.

No it's really not. But hey what ever you need to get you through the week Grid. Very few Dome teams have been to the Super Bowl. That's a trend. But the Falcons are the only Dome team to play outside in a SB. They didn't lose because they played outside. They lost because the Broncos were the more dominant team.

Now your points about the Colts being a poor outside team this year are valid.

Beardown, since you're splitting hairs, please tell me how what I said, "No domed team has ever won an outdoor Super Bowl" is a 'false statement'.

I'll sit down and wait for my answer.

If splitting hairs is what gets through the week, then hey... whatever floats your boat.

1st i believe you have to take the fact into consideration that not many football teams in general have domes which is why you dont see many in the superbowl.
2nd its hard to say that the outside conditions played 0 factor in the outcome of that game. people could make arguments that atl wouldve made the missed fg if it was in a dome where they were used to kicking or that in a dome dwight wouldnt have been able to make the cuts needed to run back the kickoff...but all of that is just "what ifs" but still points out where the conditions and turf came into play . but after all of that is said it still doesnt change the fact that grid originally pointed out that atl (a dome team) lost the super bowl outdoors.

It's just not enough of a sample. It happened one time. Look I think the Bears will win but it will be because they tackle, block, catch and run better then the Colts. This is a neutral field. Dolphin Stadium is a fast track. They won't win because they are playing outside on grass.

How about this for a trend against the Bears. How many 7+ point dogs have ever won out right. Not just in the Super Bowl but in any NFL game. I don't know the answer but it's gotta be less then 25%. See I can shoot a trend that will counter your 1 time trend. We can play this game all day.

Grid, no offense, but come on. Trends? Obviously the game planning is different, and a lot of things can happen. If you believe your team to win, then say so. Let's not fiddle around with 'trends'. Besides, 'trends' brought on...Vanilla Ice and the Spice Girls.

You don't want that again do you?

In the words of Terry Boers 'listening is a skill'.

When I was on the air, I stated "No domed team has EVER won a Super Bowl outdoors."

THAT is what I stated.

And THAT is an indisputable fact.

You knuckleheads can spin whatever else you want into it or put whatever words you want into what I stated on the air, but it is a cold hard fact that NO domed team has EVER won a Super Bowl played outdoors.

no domed team has even won a conference champ game outside right?

Post subject:

Grid I heard what you said I just don't think it has any significance in the outcome of this particular game. That's all.

Look, we're all on the same side here. Let's just get the damn win. I don't care what the reasons will be if we win.

Correct Frank... the only domed road team that won a conference championship won indoors (Atlanta at Minnesota).

And I agree with ya Beardown:

BEARS!

The REAL question is Why were you listening to Coppock and Levine talking football anyways?

Either that or why am I on a message board at midnight?

I was just driving home after a quick run to the store.

The Colts have a .500 regular season record on the road also. 4-4

The losses were at Dallas, at Tennessee, at Houston and at Jacksonville.

The latter three are all on 'natural grass'.

Hmmm....

What's in Miami?

Natural grass....

You are all missing the REAL point...Bruce Levine should not talk about anything but Cub baseball...and even in that situation he should have to come out of every commercial and identify that he is an employee of the Tribune (Vineline).

Who is this Chet Coppeck? I'm under 70, so I don't know him.
