On a 1 to 10, (1 being low, 10 being high) how excited are you guys about the arrival of Tom Waddle to ESPN1000?

Waddle cracked me up last night, after Ron Rivera said "Is there any other guy that got let go by the Bears three times" Waddle raised his hand and said "Right here Ron, but try four times."

When they finally decide on a direction for the station, then I will be more excited. I dont listen to espn 1000 at 7:00 pm.

depends on what happens.....could be a 2, could be a 9.

I'm about an '8' btw....

A '10' if a certain cellphone snappin, cocktail weiny flashin, unprofessional, excuse makin' blabbermouth gets shown the door.

I hate to say that about Sean Salisbury, but c'mon... I'm not in the feel good business.

If you're telling me it will be him and Silvy from 9-noon then I'd be at a 9. If it involves Salisbury still being on the station it's about a 3 because I don't listen at night. 8am-6pm pretty much straight though for both stations.

I hope the door hits Salisbury on the way out too.

Anything is a marked improvement over Sean.

I agree with Hawkeye. Definitely a 9, maybe 10, if they go nine to noon. It'd be nice to have Silvy back at that slot and have one of the greatest Chicago former athlete on-air talents instead of Salisbury. I hope to god its nine to noon. If not, I'll listen when I can, but its hard for anything to be "appointment radio" from 7 to 9pm.

Big damned door... From State/Lake to Dallas.

does anyone know when salisbury's contract is up? if it's relatively soon, i'm sure waddle will take the 7-9 spot until then. afterwards, rico will be shown the door, with silvy/waddle taking over from 9-12.

from initial reports, it appeared as though waddle wants to get out of night radio, in favor of a more conventional slot in the morning, probably to spend more time with the fam (and the extra CAYSH that brings)

At 7:00 PM? See Baku's Give-a-Fuck-O-Meter for my excitement level. At that time, if I'm doing anything sports-related, it's watching a game (or games) on TV, not listening to talk radio.

5. I am waiting to see how this all shakes out. Also there is a big difference between being good on a night show and a day show.

TummySticks, Sean has two years left on his deals. Two long, painful years.

If Sean goes I'm clockin in at a 8.
If not I clock in at a 0 cause I coulda gotten Waddle elsewhere if I was that amped over it all.

I'll go with 7. I would say 9 if Waddle gets into some sort of altercation with Salisbury leaving Sean unable to speak for a good period of time thereafter.

Never really heard him on the radio so 0.

Perhaps I'm just being cautious seeing as how the hordes were "jacked" about Sean Salisbury coming on board at one time...

Not even zero. I am WAY on the left side of the x-axis on this guy. Boring, trite, dull, and lame. As least with Salisbury Steak you get plenty of chances to ridicule the guy. With Waddle, you get a guy who I could picture living out in some newly built subdivision in Plainfield explaining to me the features on his new lawnmower. Uninspiring, not provocative, and put me to sleep radio. I'd rather listen to an ESPN mouthpiece because at least I would get emotionally stirred enough to be annoyed.

I'll just go ahead and echo your sentiments.

Don't be like that Sticks.

Your contribution has been one of the only things that has made the last few days of radio interesting.

But, if you really think that, then I think you might find one or two kindred spirits here. The other 98% of the people that post here love Chicago sports radio as is if my gauge is correct.

He sucked with Kaplan and I think the proposed duo will be close to unlistenable. A big ZERO. I'm just glad he's not on with Kap anymore.
