I find it very ironic that a BOMB hit out Fenway by a Boston player lands in the lap of our POS team "president". Sort of like shinning a spot light on part of what is WRONG with this organization.

who was going to be your first baseman this year if you didnt sign someone to a short 1-year deal like pena?

I don't want to sound like a meatball, but what about Hoffpauir?

Surely he could've hit .200 and hit about 20 HRs playing full time. And he would've cost about 9-9.5 million less.

It's 10 million that could have gone towards paying a guy like Fielder, who could be a part of the team long term. Rather than having a situation where the team says "we were 8-10 million apart on a deal" you have that money in the bank, because you didn't WASTE it on Pena!!

Whether they kept Hoffpauir (rather than letting him go to Japan) or put Colvin there to get him in the everyday lineup until Fukudome is dealt or his contract expires at the end of the season, would have been fine with me. But to throw good money after bad makes no sense. Trying to chase mediocrity should not be the purpose of this years exercise. Trying to develop as many players as possible and determine where your needs might truely be for 2012...that should be.

And just to be accurate that Pena money is spread out over 2 years so it's not technically a 1 year deal.

The $5M is due in January 2012 so it's only deferred for three months.

He will not go all in. Just accept it and then make smart moves to build for the future.

exactly what Ive been saying since last year, but noone listened

i knew last year he was BS'ing people with the "go young" thing, because he refused to give it the extra year it deserved, and because he was starting Nady and Fukudome ahead of Hoffpauir and Colvin...WTF??...he hates and doesnt trust young players and always bullies them around...yet he overly kisses outsiders' asses, opens his big mouth, and then when they do bad, he is afraid to back-pedal

fuck that fat fuck
