Last night while watching the Hockey game, I got one of those annoying phone calls asking if I would participate in a survey......before I could hang up, the caller told me it would take 25 minutes to participate in a survey about the RENOVATION OF WRIGLEY FIELD.....
Ricketts sure as hell has not given up on the idea of PUBLIC FINANCING for THE SHRINE.
The questions are phrased to try to convince the participant that public financing is absolutely necessary and there is also a question thrown in there about a possible Cubs departure from Wrigley Field....
Halfway thru I realized the questioner had no clue about the attendance falloff....I kept telling her if people aren't going to games, there is no great economic benefit to the area and the City...Survey was out of North Carolina....
I told her I had no objection to taxing all those bars around the Shrine and handing Ricketts the money....other than that, I was Mr. Tea Party....Kept having to tell her that Wrigley Field is owned by RICKETTS and Soldier Field and The Cell are owned by the Government...Many questions prefaced with "The Ricketts Family will put in $200,000,000 of their own money".......HIP HIP HOORAY...IT IS THEIR OWN BALLPARK.

They kept emphasizing the economic benefit to the area....the whole thing was totally slanted....I said I had no objection to taxing the hell lout of the local businesses that owe their existence to the Cubs...Hell, they would just pass the cost on to the consumer at the bar anyway.
