I guess you have to know a little something about them to understand what 'raw' means. Kelly was a high school quarterback and just started playing baseball fulltime. He's a little behind his develpment (thus calling him raw) but he has all the tools to be a future ace.

Fuentes is one of the fastest players in the minors and is still learning to make consistent contact and use his speed but when he does he will be a force at the top of their lineup.

If you don't believe me or think the Cubs or Padres made a bad deal I really couldn't care less and I'm not sure why I've even bothered explaining this much except out of sheer boredom.

Thanks for the insight. Seems like Boston outdid Hendry and the Cubs which was my point.

Archer was highly touted at the time, Lee remains so, Chirinos is having a quality year as a catcher at AAA, Fuld is a quality spare major league outfielder and Guyer has had a cup of coffee and may make the roster in the future. Most experts said this was a high price to pay for Garza and I agree. Seems like Boston got much more for fewer prospects and they are reaping the reward: the favorite for league MVP in Year 1.
