correct...pretty interesting considering he came from no big boys club (in his own words) and was the single dummy who beat the odds and got lucky to be a GM because McFail was there long enough to provide a stable environment for Hendry to "train"

the leftout guy ended up forming his own big boys club and now has too big of an imprint on the organization...the result is that the whole thing is fucked up

I think he views the cubs as if the entire organization below him (except for marketing) is in a snow globe. He knows he owns the whole thing, but what is inside those glass walls.....he knows nothing about and won't touch.

The question raised was "Who would he get now?" and maybe he gets Maddux to appease the people, but Wilkens is who should take over.

NOMAR!

Didn't B&B mention yesterday that Josh Byrnes is sniffing around trying to land the GM job if/when Jim Hendry gets fired?

Holy shit, that'd be perfect for the cubs. I think this is the guy that traded Carlos Gonzalez and Brett Anderson for Dan Haren, then turned around and traded Dan Haren for absolutely nothing? Or was that the new GM? Either way, without knowing the details, I know that Josh Byrnes was awful and terrible and god-awful and made a Hendryesque Signing when he decided that HE MUST HAVE ERIC BYRNES FOR 5YR $37MIL, including a fun 11.66666mil cap hit the last two years of the deal (the final year, in 2010, was spent with the Mariners)

Horrible trades? Check. God-awful contracts to players who could never live up to it? Check. All he has to do is perfect the rampant egotism necessary to defend your actions for the next 10 years and he'd be a perfect fit for the Cubs.

Wouldnt this work just fine? The deaf guy can see so the blind guy just puts his hand on his shoulder and follows him around. I think your analogy is faulty.

Amazed at how befuddled this group as on the topic. It's obvious the Jim Hendry way of doing things, when the bottomless checkbook is not around, is terrible.

While I don't think Tim Wilkens is the final answer he seems to be capable at identifying guys that can play in the majors. Which is something Hendry has been incapable of.

Wilkens also knows more about other teams minor league propsects.

How much of a certain players salary the Ricketts are willing to eat when they are traded is something I dont need Hendry for.

THE ONLY REASON, I see being given for Hendry not being released is that someone will pick him up tomorrow and even if they dont he will get calls from every GM asking how low the Ricketts will go on what it costs to get a number of players and Hendry will tell them.

Hendry is classic good ole boy, bullshitter and will have a job within 24 hours if he wants one.

Ricketts will not fire Hendry. He really believes the guy knows what he is doing. That is the part that pisses the knowledgeable fan off because he does not know shit without 135 mil to blow.

Correct, he will have Crane fire Hendry.

Hendrys past history as Cubs head of player development produced next to shit as far as everyday players go. That right there would tell you he is lost as far as judging young talent.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ng get a job somewhere, as soon as someone can pronounce her name correctly. :?:

You got that right. I believe that prior to Soto and Castro, the last Cubs-developed position player to make the All-Star game for any MLB team (not just as a Cub) was Mark Grace. How sad is that? Almost seems impossible to do.
