Perhaps my most enduring image of the season was that one Saturday afternoon game in April/May where it was like 45-50, cold, rainy, and utterly miserable and there was captain creepjob Tom Ricketts there in some plastic-bag-looking-poncho mugging for the national TV cameras right behind homeplate with his beer in hand. you just negotiated with a team that was in first place, that was going for it, as they demonstrated by trading their top 3 prospects. Get me a failed top prospect, hold out for all the money, etc, but this move cost Cleveland less than $ 1m???

Acquiring Fukudome does not mean going all in, but as Frank pointed out trading your top 3 Farm system guys is going all in and the point is, they had the same mindset when Hendry was dealing with them. He just got screwed
