I just saw him leave Tom Ricketts office.

Pretty sure he's the next GM.

Back in early June I went to a book signing with Howard Stern's top producer Gary Dell'abate. As me and my brother waited in line to get out book signing, I noticed out of the corner of my eye some guy in a cubs uniform walking around the line right to the front as if he were about to receive special treatment to be allowed some face-time with bababooey before the rest of us peasants could resume going about our menial affairs.

Indeed, that cubs-jerseyed guy attempting to cut in front of everyone was indeed Ronnie "Woo Woo" Wickers. I was glad to see that nobody really paid any attention to him as we kept on going to get our books signed and our pictures taken. Right as I was about to leave, I noticed one of the Publisher/Borders' people go up to him and likely say something like "uhhh, I don't know who you are but if you want to meet Mr. Dell'abate you're going to have to go to the end of the line" --- i was able to tell Gary who "that weird looking guy in the Cubs jersey" is and he was like "we really bring out the best and brightest, eh?" =D

I was there when Ronnie threw his underwear on the bar at El Jardin about 15 years ago.

That was a sighting.

wait... what? You've gotta tell this story, good doctor!! Why the hell would Ronnie Woo Woo throw his underwear on the bar? Did this action leave him butt naked in the middle of a bar? Did he shit himself in the bathroom or something?

I wonder what the process is for Ronnie to do his laundry. Does he have a Cubs Woo Woo jersey for every day of the month? Does he have a guy that washes it? I just can't picture Ronnie doing his own laundry........did ya ever think about maybe filling in for the guy for a day so he can just..you know, take care of his business? You're about the same height, same ethnicity, same.....

"Fuck you Larry! Fuck you! You just want me out of here, don't you?! Don't you?! You think that just cuz I kinda look like him and that I'm black that I want to move to Chicago and hang out at baseball games yelling a bunch of nonsense?! You are flat out fucking racist, Larry! Racist! I cannot believe the nonsense that comes out of your mouth sometimes!

I'm no JORR, but here goes. Back in the mid-90s glory days of Kevin Roberson and Scott Bullett that ushered in the end of The Shawon Dunston Era, my buddies and I spent entire summers in the bleachers. At that time, the bleachers could be pretty empty most of the time. Ronnie would often come around and we'd BS with him. On a few occasions, we'd offer him a beer. That day was one of those occasions.

We were sitting out there. It was probably a Wednesday afternoon or something and the bleachers were pretty much empty. After sitting with us a few innings, Ronnie asked where we were going. We told him El Jardin. Ronnie arrived there soon after we did. The place was pretty empty except for my group and a bachelorette party that had been at the game.

My old brain seems to recall that finding a bachelorette party at a bar was like hitting the lottery back in the day as I have many other stories. So, the one girl comes up to me and says they are having a scavenger hunt and she needs somebody's underwear. I told her she can take a pair from my drawer when I kick her out tomorrow. She didn't like that. I probably didn't say that, just JORR-ing it up. Elton John was playing piano in the corner.

Anyway, I yell "Hey, Ronnie, this girl wants your underwear". I did say that. I probably wasn't a good influence on Ronnie. Anyway, we all laugh and nobody really notices that Ronnie stepped away. A couple minutes later, I catch Ronnie coming out of the bathroom out of the corner of my eye with something balled up in his hand and a wave of "oh shit" comes over me. He proceeds to walk over to the group of girls, there's nobody in the place, and drops those suckers down on the bar between them all. They literally start screaming and leave.

We are then just standing there with Ronnie and the only thing between little Ronnie and us was a thin layer of polyester.

Ronnie took his shorts back and we took off.

A guy at the table next to me then invented the internet.

Here is my challenge to creative and computer savvy members of the Chicago Sports Fan Message Board. Recently, the Baltimore Orioles fan message board had a thread where they pasted a picture of Mark Reynolds in historical photos. It was hilarious.

I would like to see this with Ronnie Woo Woo.

Oh my lord.... I remember in the mid-90s my grandparents and I were doing the whole Michigan Ave. thing and we stopped off at the official cubs store in the tribune tower where they sold game-worn jerseys. They bought me a small/ish #19 pullover deal, and I remember thinking "This is so cool! I can tell people at school that this is a Kevin Roberson jersey!"

Suffice to say, I never really did tell anyone that I had a bonafide Kevin Roberson jersey... and soon I wouldn't want to tell people that I had a bonafide Kevin Roberson jersey. Nowadays good ol Kev doesn't show up until result #8 on google or something, as there are other far more prominent Kevin Robersons around before you get to the one who played baseball.

I've still got that small jersey sitting around... the tag has "M O" written on it in a permanent marker, and I really have no idea what small/ish player wore #19 for the cubs in the 80s/early-90s (when did they abandon the white pullover jersey?) but suffice to say, I've got one of his jerseys. Now it comes in handy for when I go to a ballgame with a chick, I can offer her a proper game-worn cubs jersey to wear that is 90% likely to fit her well.... the trick is getting it back cuz you know how women are with keeping your clothes... I've lost at least 2-3 hoodies that way =/
