Pat Hughes is "preparing for the season" by not being at spring training. Can't blame him. He has tenure. He shouldn't have to do a Cubs-Angels split-squadder on February 23rd if he doesn't wanna. Frankly, I'm surprised they got Len to do it and didn't just hand it off to I dunno Jim Memolo or something. Even more frankly, I'm surprised they're carrying the game at all. Guess it beats Garry Meier reruns.

This might be a nice change of pace to hear him do radio.

EDIT: "first of 39 spring training games" JESUS CHRIST how does anyone need 39 spring training games? I'm not convinced the rampant metastasis of spring training is just all these stupid-ass Arizona boomburbs trying to recoup the costs they incurred to build billionaires all these puffed-up training facilities. The Sox/Dodgers park in Glendale has a fully stocked fish pond! What's the new Cubs place going to be like? you get a handjob at the door?
