Chicago Cubs network?

Of course, it goes off the air at the beginning of October.

I applaud the Cubs for winning the press statement. Great job by Julian Green. Excellent crisis management.

I think Julian was just doing his job. The Mascot is for the kids. Visiting hospitals, etc. Why does everything have to be put up for ridicule?

EDIT: I don't mean the CSFMB,I'm talking national sport guys & websites.

Working on something VERY big on the Cubs front- considering the gravity of it, won't post until I have double confirmation...

Statue vibe.

What's the latest with this? Has the twitter machine confirmed??

Still have yet to get a second confirmation- may not be able to. Made a mistake posting anything about this until I had the 2nd in hand...

That Ty guy isn't a a big name or anything. Last night he did say he passed it on to two others, so I assume he gave it to some real reporters to see if they can find a second source. There was some speculation from others about the Cubs talking to Fox about a Network, so that could have been it.

In other news:

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #Cubs pushing hard for Tanaka. #Angels remain involved, along with others previously mentioned - #Yankees, #Dodgers, etc.

A ton of pro Cubs/Tanaka stuff on Twitter today. Safe to assume, based on previous transactions, the Cubs will be announced as signing him, only to have him go somewhere else.

I would like to see Tanaka signed. He fits the needs of the team very well. They have a good number of exceptional prospects in the minor leagues that should be up with the team in the next year or two. What they don't have enough of, is starting pitching. A 25 year old (May not have even reached his prime yet) who was 24-0 with an ERA under 1.30?? I know the Japanese league isn't the same and the hitters are inferior to the MLB hitters for the most part, but those numbers are staggering. That said, I don't see the Cubs getting him over the Dodgers, Yankees and Red Sox.

So this ended up being much ado about nothing from the twitter machine?

There are some real major league hitters still available that would come cheap at this point. You mean to tell me Theo can't spare about 20-25 mil for 3 or 4 one year contracts?

Yes,but I see two or 3 3rd basemen that hit .280. I also see Michael Young who I know is regarded as a bad fielder but can hit. The Cubs last season had a 2nd baseman at .206 & a 3rd baseman at .218. I like Valbuena but they need some guys who can hit for a higher average.

Michael Young is strongly considering retirement.

I doubt you could get many decent guys to sign one year deals.
