Just showed a mashup of Abreu's at bats. This guy simply puts wood on ball. Talk to me about that long ass thread comparing Rizzo at the end of the season.

Yeah that thread is really something. Abreu has clearly been better than Rizzo - who has also been very good this year. It kinda exposes the flaws in advanced stats there.

Petricka has been throwing the hell out of the ball. I think they gave up on him too soon as a starter.

I don't view it as a flaw in advanced stats, it's the poster's misapplication of the stat as a measure of "superiority"

True. That's the better way of saying it.

When I saw him in Winston-Salem about 2 years ago, he was having trouble repeating his delivery. Some guys just pitch better out of the stretch. Less timing mechanisms to repeat.

I don't. Watch him get back in AL parks against ML lineups and he will be getting shit on again.

Missile with some gems tonight. I understand why some people dog him for... dogging it, but he makes plays sometimes that few MLB SS can make.

He had a lot of nagging injuries but nothing arm related. I think another year and he could have broken out as a starter. He has 3 pitches (two of them plus) that he commands well. Oh well. If he becomes the future closer I won't be too upset.

In the game I saw, he had walked 4 or 5 guys by the third inning, and Thigpen had already been to the mound a couple times. Jared Mitchell had just blown a can of corn in CF and the bases were loaded) I was trying to lipread the congregation at the rubber on a gray and rainy night, but it basically went like:

Thiggy: pitch to Location, not Situation. Just put the fingers down, and hit the target.

Petricka: bunch of nodding and Uhhuh

He promptly threw the next one about 5 feet over the batters head at 97.

Are you sure Thiggy didn't tell him to "just throw it at the Bull"?

What an amazing turnaround in one year for the White Sox and this is without two very important players.

To go from being dominated by the Cubs last year to dominating the Cubs this year is really impressive. I guess all of those Cubs fans who gave Frank a hard time for saying the Sox will be better this year should be giving him an apology.

Castro has been incurably infected with the disease of accepting losing baseball. The proper move would be to bench him today. Instead, his bad actions will be reinforced when he is in the starting lineup.

This is why you don't play to lose as an organization. The young guys learn that losing is acceptable and that the small, subtle actions involved in changing an outcome are irrelevant.

Who is now 2-4 with a 4.75 ERA. Love seeing Paulie getting a big hit. The old guy still has it.

Those pitches were Rizzo were not strikes, especially the 3-1 pitch. HOwever on 3-2, you know its a wide plate, it was a wide plate for lefty hitters (Sox too, DeAza was called out on a similar pitch) all game long, and he looks at another pitch right there. You have to swing the bat and you have to know that that pitch in that location is going to be called a strike, whether it crossed the plate or not. Seems that such a refined hitter would know that.

All those game Lake played at SS and 3B in the minors sure did help his outfield defense.

Nice home run by Anthony Rizzo

Carroll is losing it quick. How do you let the cubs get multiple guys on base 3 innings in a row?

I knew the bullpen has been pretty good of late but I didn't know they've been that good.
