Still a great game he pitched. Good try, Arrieta.

[Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos] texted [Luhnow] and asked what it would take for Norris. AA said Aaron Sanchez is off the table but might be willing to talk about anyone else.

[Luhnow] told [Alex Anthopoulos] that we would consider Stroman +. AA said he had a bunch of balls in the air at once but would get back to JL.

Sanchez was off the table for Bud Norris, which makes sense. He should be on the table for Samardzija though.

Perfect through 5 against the Reds tonight.

Dude...Arrieta...lock him up.

Kershaw type numbers this month.

Wood was on fire last year. Not so much this year. If Arrietta repeats next year then you sign him.

I think they should sign Wood, too.

I'm still high on Wood. This season hasn't been great so far but he is an above average southpaw. I picture him as a high 3 ERA guy...a good third or fourth starter.

In other words he's left handed Jeff Samardzija. Let's hope he doesn't expect 100 plus million after next year too.

I see poor Shark got bailed out of going 1-2 for his far superior run support team with a 3 run walk off in the 9th. So far 1-1, 3.27 ERA, .773 WHiP. Cant believe he's not 3-0 at this point.

Once again Shark get bailed out . Exits losing 4-1 in the 7th and Oakland scores 6 in the 9th to get him off the hook. So far for Oak, 5 starts , 2-1 , ( 2 times left game losing only to have Oakland score late to get him off the hook, funny how those start to even out with the games he "should've" won with the Cubs but for lack of run support  ) , 3.19 ERA, .081 WHiP. To quote Bert Gordon " Stay with this kid, he's a loser".

Ah, so when he gets bailed out it's run support. When he goes 8 and loses 1-0, its on him?

I think you've gone further than JORR now. JORR at least admits that there are extreme cases (Felix Cy Young year)

BTW, Samardzija pitched 6 games (7ip, 9ip, 6ip, 7ip, 6ip) for the Cubs where he gave up 0 earned runs.

He got zero wins

I guess my point is that no matter what fucking team he's on, he will be lucky to be AJ Burnett and certainly doesn't to be paid more than Burnett has ever made[ 16.5 million] who himself was overpaid.

He got zero wins

2 of the last 3 games he pitched he exited losing by 3 or more runs. He got zero losses.

The Cubs dodged a bullet and we should all be happy.

Are you following the conversation? Im not crying for him. Rogue was saying he got bailed out. Im saying it evens out because he had some hard luck earlier

I understand. I think he's just above the Javy Vazquez level. I think he's a real good #2 and will have one great season.

But Im just saying you cant say GET THE WIN when he's on the bad team and then bemoan him getting bailed out on the good team.

Well, its not like there was a gun to their head.

Im happy with how they handled it. He wants too much and they got a decent haul for him.

I want Shark and Hammel to succeed but by jumping in early looks like we saved some built up value. To exchange a career half-season for 20-year old 1st rounder excelling in the minors and young 5th starter with previous MLB success is pure brilliance.

Don't forget about McKinney, the 19 YO 1st round draft pick doing very well at High A Daytona. Straily has sucked so far however.
