'Let's not even compare these two' difference (aka the Jackson-Trout difference): .151 and up OPS

OPS, OPS+ - career

Rizzo: .751, 104
Votto: .957, 154

Let's not even compare these two.

IMU mad that Abreu is gonna hit 50 bombs this year. Maybe he only gets 7 in April, 1 in May, and 24 for the season...

50? Maybe.

60? No chance in hell.

What the fuck is this guy smoking?

"(Hitting coach) Billy Mueller and (assistant hitting coach) Mike Brumley talk to the players a lot about trying to take the emotion out of it, slow the game down. But it's still a process and obviously we haven't gotten where we need to be, so we've got to keep chipping way and as the season progresses, we find that formula that gives us an opportunity to do those things."

Renteria shunned the notion that his players have peaked and have no room for growth.

"Are these guys the final product?" Renteria replied. "No. There's a lot of skill in these guys, and they're not completely there yet. They're chipping away.

"If you want to call it the beauty of the process, the reality is I have to understand the perspective and understand their skill set and know we're still chipping way and helping them become the players we want them to be."

oooo, you got me! I've stated many times I didn't like his post game BS sessions. He sounded a lot like Quade BUT as far as a field manager,He did a fine job. The second half the season with a lousy roster,he had the Cubs playing hard baseball while staying above water with W's.

Abreu = Chris Shelton or Chris Duncan playing in mostly hitter friendly ballparks.
I just hope Abreu's ceiling is higher than Mike Trout/Brett Jackson.

Just to point out the stupidity in this statement, which Sox fans already know; Chris Shelton is a career .273 hitter with his high water mark being a .299avg in 388 at bats in 2005 (2005 8) ). He also hasn't played in the majors since 2009 when he was 29 years old. Chris Duncan is a .257 career hitter with his high water mark being .293 over 280 at bats in 2006. He also hasn't played since 2009 at the ripe old age of 28. Abreu hit .317 this year over 556 at bats.

Not sure who has had a worse week on the board in the baseball threads. IMU or Kirkwood. Even bigfan is putting you both to shame.

Its amazing to see how some Cubs fans are ready to print World Series tickets with another new manager. Usually this false hope is reserved for Spring Training, but you hosers are really outdoing yourselves now!

I like how Frank waited 6 months to respond to that post of mine.

No it didn't.

Just picked up the option for a former 1st round 23-year old starting pitcher for a bargain million bucks. Give Bosio a full Spring Training with him and we could see Jake Arrieta dos.

Addition by subtraction. Clearing the way for Rodon. Care to try and inevitably fail again, Kirkwood?
