For the record BRick, I flew into town the day they won. I took a 33 hour Greyhound bus ride to get back to school. It was hell, and the only saving grace I had was that I got about 4 books read that I needed to for school.

Why are Sox fans more obsessed about the Cubs than ever?

We will go right to the top, "The Chairman".

Despite all the naysayers about prospects not working out in the past, THE CHAIRMAN, has done what he can to try and disrupt the Cubs development. The Cap on Drafts, the cap on international spending has been on the table for 7 years? Jerry sees the Cubs ready to spend and pushes it through.

The fight against the Cubs spring training facilty, the attempt to have the Cubs sign an ISFA lease when Zell owned the team, the blackballing of Mark Cuban from MLB, the elimination of other capable owners, etc, Ricketts was what Jerry thought would be exactly what he wanted. Liquid cash, no experience, very conservative.

Now things are starting to come together. Things do smell good in the kitchen and Jerry knows whats coming for dinner. Jerry then chooses to go and spend spend spend .

You can tell me that it doesnt bother him and he ignores the issue, but Jerry knows, they need to fight for popularity and in order to maintain the level they have, they cant be a rebuilder when the Cubs are about to boil up.

Interesting angle. The entire Schwarber pick was because of slot money/draft cap. A certain Sox fan here blasted the Cubs for the smart move of drafting Schwarber out of slot to save money to spend on a lower draft pick that could only be signed by throwing cash at him. The Cubs have adapted nicely to the new world.

but at the same time Jerry has said many times he would have loved to buy the Cubs.

the issue is here that he had the chance to buy the Cubs. he would have had to sell the Sox, but he could have bought the Cubs.

he chose to keep the Sox. The Sox were more popular then, they did better on TV and at the gate.

South Side Racism: White people sharing their neighborhoods or living very near neighborhoods belonging to non-whites. They glare angrily out their window at "all the damned welfare" and "hoodlums." Wouldn't send their kid to CPS if their lives depended on it. Fun fact: these people buy Flogging Molly CD's on Tuesdays.

North Side Racism: No blacks allowed. None, unless the individual in question has good white references they can go back to whatever hole they crawled out of. Dictate of policy a isolation and crippling poverty to non-whites, ensuring that they never have to awkwardly put their homes on the market the instant a black family moves in 2 doors down. A favorite past time of north side racists is to shut down all the schools for black kids then do whatever they can to make sure their schools stay all white (maybe a little asian, they're aryan enough).

Damn that guy for keeping his profitable business and not taking a chance on the Cubs!!

I want the Cubs to have a nice run. Make the playoffs 7 out of the next 10 years. And still not win the World Series.

Not cuz I hate the Cubs. I don't. Just because, as I'm not a fan of the Cubs, I think them not winning it for 110 + years is the better story. I truly is amazing.

I felt the same way about the Red Sox. Didn't want them to win it in 2004.
