It was a metaphor, Chris. A man would have to have a mighty big set of balls to waltz into Chicago and take away the number of the Great Kerry Wood. TheoandJedandJason are like a litter of puppies shitting all over the immaculate Cub household.

Your take on Kerry Wood is much different than it was when he struck out Dayan Viciedo for the manufactured moment that you hated so much

It's interesting you say that. And more evidence of how the Cubs just do everything wrong. They stopped a fucking game between batters for the guy to retire and had his kid run out on the field. That's completely disrespectful to the opposing team- regardless of whether it was the White Sox. But they went through that entire machination, having him strike out the guy most likely to do so, they put a lifetime contract for him in the owner's desk drawer, but they give his number away at the first opportunity?

Obviously, I'm doing some major league trolling here, but underneath that there is some real sincerity. Wood is one of the few Cub players I like.

How do you think I felt when the Cubs gave #22 to Kevin Hart (no, not that one, but he might as well have been)

He's a genuine top of the rotation guy, but his best is probably not going to be in the future, but in the rear-view mirror. That said, he makes the team better and it's surely a sign that the days of selling off parts is over. It's time to begin playing for post-season berths and let the fun begin!

I still feel that Lester will win 15 games or more, but they definitely overpaid for him and his best years are in the rear-view mirror as I said. But I think he will get on a positive run very soon and hopefully stay on it for a good stretch.

Don't let that bad fat body fool you, that fucker is an athlete. I know I've mentioned this here before to some laughter, but I can remember seeing him stretch in the outfield at Sox Park before one of his starts and he had his leg behind his head. My wife does yoga every morning and I have no doubt Bartolo could run through downward dogs and mountain poses with more flexibility than she can.

Yesterday's game was why you hand the cat $155 million.

Helped Martinez let Lester go 106 pitches. Maddon would've pulled him after 85.

I like Lester's attitude. I like the edge. He wasn't bad...when he missed...it was by a couple inches. His pitches had good movement and his fastball had life.

I also liked that the bad was contained to solo shots. Not a string of walks and hits. He's getting better.

So, are people saying they are cool with 6 IP 3 ER from Lester?

I didn't like his bitching about borderline calls (which looked to be called correctly). I thought the ump showed great restraint in not tossing him and Maddon (who's become a whiny bitch).

I am cool with him getting the W. That's all that matters, right JORR? Lets see what your ace does tonight to help out your team. Don't worry about the Cubs, they will be just fine.

Average innings per start for career: 6.32
Average earned runs per start for career: 2.52

Not sure what people expect but I expect him to be the same guy he's always been. He's never been Randy Johnson or anything on that level.

I don't think pitch trax is always super accurate. However, I agree most pitches were balls. However, some of those pitches were called earlier in the game. For both Lester and deGrom. Then suddenly they were balls only after Lester gave up two consecutive home runs? I'd be upset too. Especially those low strikes. Soler had several of those as called strikes last night.

I just want umps to be consistent (or have balls and strikes called by a computer). I'm okay with slightly different zones from ump to ump, but a strike for one pitcher in the first inning needs to be a strike for any pitcher in any situation in the eighth inning.

Pedro complained about umps. Pedro is the perfect starting pitcher. Ergo, Lester is right to do it.

I would expect his ERA to improve due to switching to the NL, but based on his issues throwing to bases, maybe that won't pan out.

Yeah, that makes sense but he's also aging so by the end of the deal, I think it will even out.

And I know you know, but just to clarify that isnt his career era. I simply divided runs given up by games started.

Caught highlights of his last outing against the Pirates. Lester was fortunate the ump was extending the strike zone low. Lester really gets pissy when the ump isn't extending the zone a couple inches low and away.

The 3rd strike on McCutchen was a terrible call by the ump but great frame job by cabana boy.

MLB umpires have been calling low strikes all season. The strikes called on Soler caused me to start paying attention...I'm seeing it everywhere now.

I mentioned the 3rd strike on Cutch too, by pitch fx it wasn't too terrible, but I looked worse live. It's the 4 under the bottom right corner.
