If this helps them blow off steam and leads them to the promised land, more power to them. It just seems strange to me given the circumstances.

They bring zoo animals into the locker room before games.

Yes but that's Madden's M.O.

Then again, this may be their only chance to celebrate. My gloom and doom Cubfandeness is starting to stir.

I'm confused. What is odd or "strange given the circumstances" of celebrating securing a postseason spot? (although I think it's generous to call a play-in game the postseason)

I feel very confident that Joe Maddon has a little speech at the end of this mini party...thats goes something like

"This was great, everyone should be proud of what we have done...is everyone proud? YES
Did everyone have enough champagne? YES
Everyone got a shirt? YES

OK, great. cherish it for the next 13 minutes, then give me back the shirts, finish your bottle.....we got work to do!"

Then unveils the hot coal pit he wants them to walk across. #teambuilding

The visual was weird since they had lost, but it has no bearing on anything in the long run. There are better things to worry about, such as the lack of a quality 3rd pitcher.

It's not really uncommon at all for a team to lose a regular season game but clinch a playoff spot or clinch the division anyway and still celebrate after the game.

JORR was right, act like you've been there before fellas.

The Pirates were celebrating clinching the wild card the other day. Stop being jealous and doing the typical bitter sox fan cub hating.
