And I am cool with that.
What do you get for a partly used Matt Murton? My guess is not a whole helluva lot.

Maybe if you throw in a prospect you can get a Darin Erstad.

Matt Murton is a perfect Oakland A and it is just a mater of time before Billy beane gets his hands on him and Murton challenges for an AL Batting title.

Yup, you heard it. Batting title.

It is really difficult for a team to get no power out of traditional power hitting positions. You can live with a guy like Ichiro because he is superior in so many different ways. You can also live with it if, say, your CF can hit 30. This is even more true in the NL.

He is a one tool player and not a very high end one tool at that.

Scott Podsednik, 2005.

He stole 50 plus bases, had the highest average on the team, batted leadoff with a .370 or so OBP. In other words, he did things similar to Ichiro. The Sox also had power out of non traditional spots such as 20 HR at SS and I believe 18 at 2B.

Were you trying to back my point Frank?

no. just saying that if you dont have power out of LF, sometimes it doesnt make things all that difficult

however, pods and ichiro have speed in common...and thats it. ichiro is better glove, arm, range, and overall offensive production.

Exception to the rule I think. Nice use of Podsednik in 2005 though. Stepping up in quality.

I certainly agree about Marshall. I'm not sure about Murton. I liked him a lot originally, but I don't know what position he plays without being a liability, and while his bat is decent, it's not the type that makes up for poor-to-mediocre fielding. I like to cheer for him, though, because I call him "the big Murt."

With Tigers picking up a new 3rd basemen. Inge is another Murton type out there but better. He is $$$ but could be a good fit elsewhere. Someone would rather have Inge than Murton if they have the cha-ching.
