another cubs fan here, and after watching a game up at miller park a couple years ago, and going to a couple games at the cell, i agree that something needs to be done with wrigley field. i love the feel of the park, the ivy, the scoreboard, the rooftops, all of that. all that should stay. the rest of it needs to go knock it down, rebuild a grandstand with some modern amenities.

the parking thing is a big pain in the ass, and taking the train to the el and hoofing it here and there is not convenient. there just isnt any alternative at the current location, and i can live with that if the rebuild there, but if talk started seriously about rebuilding a new park elsewhere, i wouldnt call it the end of the world. there is a reason teams still dont play at forbes field, and the polo grounds, and old comiskey, and countless other parks. they were old, outdated, and falling apart. this problem needs to be addressed, one way or the other.

Yep, it's time.

Spanky you said the Cubs will continue their winning drought just like a typical Sox fan.

Maybe you aren't but you surely seem to be from what you've said today.

Are you some kind of a moron, or am I falling for some kind of a gag here? Please find the quote that you referring to, and post it here. Seriously - WTF is this?!?

actually i said that steph, but i said it in a joking manor. i too follow the cubs even though im a sox fan and found myself rooting for them last year.

1. Yes Wrigley is a dump and parking/transit is brutal. From my Arlington Hts front door to butt-in-seat, Miller Park is quicker than Wrigley. Driving or train/el/bus/cab combos, it doesn't matter.
2. Bars/neighborhood more than make up for it. Anyone who has been to modern ballparks in boring neighborhoods (Texas stadium, Minute Maid Park, even Miller) come to mind
3. Regarding bathrooms, be careful what you wish for. To me, troughs, while not pretty, are much more efficient than urinals. However if I am not mistaken plumbing code will never allow them in a new stadium (aka Soldier Field) which would likely mean longer lines - unless of course enough space was devoted to bathrooms which you know is not going to happen - you do not make money off of bathrooms.

Oh no! It's crowded and smokey! Go back to Naperville, asshole. If you don't like the atmosphere.....don't go. Trust me, the Cubs don't need you to fill the seats.

While I certainly hope it turns to ashes in your mouth, you'll doubtless be rewarded for your circling vulture routine. The Cubs do have a way of screwing things up.

Case in point (and this may well send Frank into fits of ecstasy), walking the leadoff 0.111 hitting batter and then finding a way to get two runs to score on a sac fly.

Jeezus.

High-concept satire.

Why aren't Red Sox fans pissing and moaning about how Fenway needs to be replaced? If the Red Sox could figure out a way to gradually rehabilitate and maintain Fenway Park without having to pay rent to their competition, there should be no reason why the Cubs can't do the same. So many Cubs fans on the Internet get so worked up about being in opposition to everything that casual fans like, which includes how lucky we are to have Wrigley Field.

But that's already common knowledge. The Wrigley crowd is what it is...some of us even like it that way. It's not some great secret of the universe that Wrigley field is often crowded full of loud drunks...if you don't mind that, then go to games. If you'd rather not deal with drunks and bathroom lines, stay home. Only an idiot would go and then bitch about a situation you were already well aware of before you even left your damn house in the morning.
