Cubs struggling to score against Maddux early. Ramirez with a really bad base running mistake, trying to score on a wild pitch. Dempster is looking good, but who doesn't against the Padres, besides Marquis?

Didn't get to watch the game (some of us have to work, I guess) but looks like Dempster had one hell of an outing based on the box score. 12 K's, 1BB...and Maddux knocked out in the 5th?

great game today for the Cubs. Dempster was nailz and Edmonds got a knock in his first game. The Cards and Astros are losing, so could be a really nice day

Yeah Edmonds got a knock, after Ramirez was out on the wild pitch and there was nobody on base. But he struck out with the bags loaded and 1 out and hit into a double play with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Lets not act like he had a good game. But it was a great game for Dempster. 8 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Kerry wood strikes out both batters he faced and Derrick Lee who had been struggling, gets a big hit that drove in 2 runs. Nice series. But I still can't figure out how they lost to Estes, even with Marquis pitching.

He also took some bullshit routes in CF today.

edmonds sucked last week with the padres, he sucked today, and chances are he will suck tomorrow. at least soto will be back in the lineup, and hopefully edmonds can find himself comfortable batting 8th after soto and derosa.

Seeing Edmonds in a Cubs uniform today was weird. He hit two balls solid today, but didnt do anything to make me think he is the answer.
