The Orioles and Rays have both used relief pitchers to start the game and then brought in their starters. I like it. It's good to think out of the box and switch things up sometimes because what's the benefit of continuing to repeat a failing pattern? Regarding the Cubs, maybe Yu's fragile mentality is starting to affect the relief pitchers as well - who knows but they might feel less pressure if they're not having to defend a lead. They're already 4 games behind the Brewers and they're not likely to sign someone who can come in and magically save the day.

I don't believe in it, but they can do what they want behind closed doors.

This might work well for the Cubs. Start Strop and bring Lester in to begin the second inning.

What's Kyle Farnsworth been up to lately?
Ricketts could probably pay him in protein shakes and Red Bull...

It completely screws up the starter's routine and pregame throwing program. You can't go outside the fence and long toss.

He recently bought into a joint gym partnership in Winter Garden, Fla., that offers instruction in pitching and baseball, speed and agility workouts and nutrition plans.

To no one’s surprise, Farnsworth is in his fifth and final season as a defensive lineman on the Orlando Phantoms semipro football team.

Ha.. that’s great. I would of figured something like that too but a 40 year old semi pro football player works too.

I love the idea for teams that have the right arms for it.

Cubs dont at the moment.

it's a dumb idea.

it might work out as far as u winning the game, but it really fucks up and scrambles ur bullpen and pitching staff in the long run.

Relievers are routine guys. They dont like being shuffled all over the place.

Let's see somebody win a ring doing it.

would have thought you could find Farnsworth doing lines off the bar at Tai's til 4.

relievers as starters is like breakfast for dinner, not bad occasionally

They will eventually but the Rays are the first team to embrace it fully and it turned around their season and they went 69-50 after they started it.

I think it's an interesting idea if you have the right rotation n pen, very few do but that will change.. relievers are becoming more n more valuable. I just think it's 5 years away from somebody pulling it off.
