Eh, close enough to be called out. Maybe if they could have put a ball in play the last 2 outs they might have won.

Schwarber drew the walk. The 3B ump missed the call.

Contreras has a baseball iq of a dope.

They were not giving him anything to hit and were pitching him away since 1st base was open but he kept swinging at that pitch 3 feet outside the zone.

And the guy is a fucking Catcher!!! If there was anyone who should know the situation it's him.

The shot of Rizzo and Zobrist after that K said it all : they were thinking 'DUMB ASS' after his AB.

Schwarb was closer on the replay. But I think he screwed himself by shaking his head no before the 3rd base ump made the call. Don't show up the fucking ump and you're probably on 1st.

But the ab by Contreas is why they didnt get that tying run in in the 9th.

btw....wtf happened here? Why no Angels/Cubs thread? So many cub fans jumping off the bandwagon this year? So it's like the Sox threads where it's a season long gaming thread?

When all you have to pray for is the hope Schwarber didn’t swing and miss enough to be called a strike on a pitch in the dirt, then his AB sucked. Angels closer had a better AB to end the top of the ninth.

Zaidman said he thought Schwarber clearly went, for what it’s worth.

Joe is out of his mind...just heard him say he doesn’t want an electronic strike zone but wants an electronic way to determine check swings.

If Zaidman said it was sunshine-y outside I'd leave the house with two umbrellas.

There should be no question in anyone's mind anymore that it's time for technology to take over balls and strikes. I used to abhor the idea then starting in 2015 I paid attention to the calls during games with pitchfX and Brooks Baseball and couldn't believe how often the game would have an incompetent umpire behind the plate. I've had my fill of this idiotic 'human element' nonsense.

But you're right ... Joe is taking a very cognitively dissonant stance by saying no to balls/strikes but yes to check swings. Ye gods.

Contreras not putting the ball in play just can’t happen.

Fucking a bunt with Javy at 3rd base probably plates a run.
