The 2016-2017 offseason is what started this

We really didnt do much to improve the team for 2017

We signed John Jay, Brian Duensing, traded Soler for Davis, traded for Eddie Butler and signed Brett ANderson as our 5th starter who was dreadful

We didnt have a lead off hitter, the Schwarber experiement was a joke and at the end of June we were 40-40 so Theo made the trade of Quintana

Alot of the slow start had to do with Maddon who preached that there would be a world series hangover and that the team would likely get off to a slow start, that right there gave the players an excuse to be ok with not winning

That is what has caused this steep downfall!

Agreed it started with the Q trade, ( hated the move) the Darvish signing ( hated it) and Chatwood signing ( loved it) it handcuffed the team. The payroll is 210 million ( second most in Mlb) the money was spent poorly.

Maddon tanking the final games in series they could have swept last year was on him. Not the front office, not the players, but on him. The scrapheap bullpen was effective last year. He should been more hard ass, and pushed the guys, instead of mollycoddling them.

I thought maddon did a very nice job last year squeezing 95 wins out of that squad. Bryant was gone, Darvish was gone, Chatwood sucked.

Why don't you head down to Wrigley and slap around Theo just like you did to that young waitress!

What about all that interest in Christian Yelich after the 2017 season? Should've parted with Happ, Russell, Schwarber, Almora, etc.

They could've gotten a proven hitter and lead off guy, something they missed since Fowler.

Soler for Davis was a great trade for the Cubs. It was pretty evident though that Soler wasn't going to amount to much.

Gleyber Torres was the only big name Theo pulled the trigger on. That trade worked out beautifully. But it was done knowing the player coming back was a very short rental.

Almora, Schwarber, Happ, Bote, Russell, and Baez are all still here. John Paxson hanging on to the baby bulls.

They should have resigned Wade Davis instead of pissing money away on Morrow

It is as if Theo refused to watch the Dodgers/Astros World Series. Yu should have been crossed off any list after his atrocious meltdown performances. As for Morrow, Dave Roberts rode his dick into the ground and then some. Think of how Joe overuse Chapman x 10.

Theo doesn't believe in leader hitters. His data shows that the position has evolved and he rather have Babe Ruth-corpse in the lead off spot.

His data also suggested Darvish and Marrow would be a nice fit in Chicago.

The data also said Chatwood should be fine once he got away from Coors Field. Whoops!

The non-existent lead off hitter has been the key to the downfall.

Go watch game 7 telecast of the WS 2016. in the beginning Joe Buck gives you stats on how the cubs have this ridiculous win record that year when the leadoff hitter (Fowler) gets on base.

He would be, if he stopped walking so many people.

Rick Hahn has got be taking note of Theo's fuck ups, and not to go strictly by predictive data. Also, if the Sox ever get good Renteria's replacement hopefully won't be a wacko like crazy Joe.
