The Cubs magic number to clinch the National League Central division is now just 6, after beating the Twins yesterday 1-0. This will mark 5 of the last 6 seasons, in which they qualify for the post-season. Pretty good run. My hope is that with the Contracts of Lester, Quintana and Chatwood coming off the books, they might sign one top tier starter this winter (Bauer?) to go with Darvish, Hendricks and Mills. The 5th spot can be a lesser free agent, like they used to go after (Hamels). With the White Sox looking like a serious contender for the next several years, I can't see Ricketts ordering up another rebuild. Trading Bryant is a real possibility, but not another overhaul. I see the string of playoff appearances just growing. Just hope the current hot streak continues through the playoffs.
