Bote needs to stop playing everyday. Great bench player, terrible starter.

It's baseball, so that's great. But I can't get enthused about this team. Hasbeens plugging holes. Best player Bryant will be gone. Plus, who knows who for more cost cutting. 22nd easiest difficulty of schedule so far (Sox 29th). Heyward's total collapse (even worse than usual) is fun. But he needs to sit on the bench. Good news is Theo's gone, and hopefully the minor league drought will end. Down the road hopefully the cost cutting ends. All these wins are pretty meaningless. It's silly to get emotionally involved with this team at this stage until the organization gets it's act together.

Heyward has 4 damn hits in the last ten games. P.U.

Nice win by the Cubbies today; great slide by Heyward and it's nice to see Kimbrel back. If he keeps this up, a lot of teams will pay a decent amount for him.

Hope the White Sox can get Marisnick if the Cubs aren't in contention.

Kimbrel’s stuff looks awesome. I assume they trade him. One of the few assets on this team. Maybe someone buys Bryant too.

Plus his stats for his entire career show that he's a shitty hitter when the pitcher doesn't have to worry much about pitch selection (bases empty and low leverage situations).

They are just waiting for the Blue Jays and A's to win a few more games and get into a bidding war.

i wonder if they stay in this team to go for it. no teams are really running away w/ the division. cards are the team that can but let's see how they do this month.

Don't you see what's happening? Potter isn't selling. Potter's buying! And why? Because we're panicky and he's not. That's why. He's picking up some bargains. Now, we can get through this thing all right. We've got to stick together, though. We've got to have faith in each other.

We know Ricketts is not spending, and not sure how for how long. So he'll get the crums from other teams, see if they can contend for the division, and that's about it. He's not paying anytime soon for some big FA or Trade deadline signing to try to make the Cubs contend for the pennant or WS.

so apparently this chick broadcaster is the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball chick.

Yea, she is not bad. But no doubt this is Sciambi's recruitee.

I never knew her name. I always thought it was Doris Burke, if anyone.

Problem with this, is they sound too much like an ESPN broadcast now. Too neutral. What happened to the Pat Hughes experiment? I loved that.

Hard to believe this Crick has thrown 11 shutout innings this year.

This should be easy. Throw strikes with a 4 run lead. Instead he's throin' a buncha wild breaking pitches and nibblin'.

Great stuff, if he can harness it.

ETA: Looks like they just took him out.

that pitch up and in to strike out Martini woulda been a ball 15 years ago, before they started enforcin' the high strike.

Now a guy is forced to swing at it. It should still be a ball in my eyes.

thanks whistler, tuning back in

--

looks like they came up a little short - but i'm sick and tired and pissed about Hendricks. After that 1st inning, another 1st inning where he shit the bed, like the 3rd or 4th one already, i was so pissed i shut it off.

that was a nerve-racking 9th.

One of the longest bottom of 9th innings that actually ended in a converted save, that I've seen in a while.

But it resulted in both Crick and Rodriquez giving up their first run of the year. Rodriguez came in with 12+ shutout innings.

She is not Jessica Mendoza, you dolt. She is Beth Mowins, who does other sports for ESPN, but not baseball.

Obviously they had her come in for Mother's Day weekend. She's going to do some other games later in the year as well.
