His fuckup at the end of a game resulted in one of the all-time great Santo calls. The other team had the winning run at 3rd with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs, and Hughes said something like, "Ron, a ground ball would be good here with the infield in." Sure enough, the batter hit a grounder to third, but Bellhorn threw to first. As the play developed, Santo cried out "YES...no, no, NO!!!!!"
