Was there a reason stated for Heyward being out?

The good news is deGrom will be out after 6 with the number of pitches he’s throwing.

The fact he gets platooned and still hits .160 is atrocious.

Cubs always catch a break vs DeGrom.

Either he misses the series, or they dont score for him and they win the low-scoring game, or he gets hurt. Never fails, it's unbelievable.

Another one of the great pitchers that the Cubs always somehow seem to handle (Kershaw, Scherzer, etc.)

I think they're finally losing their patience with Heyward. Over his career he's hitting .333 against deGrom. They've totally abandoned past performance against pitchers he's faced. And they replaced him with Ortega who's struggling worse than he is. I'm glad he's on the bench. They're not going to spend any money on a right fielder til his contract expires.

I'll add moonpies to ignore. Hopefully they can salvage a game tomorrow and move on.

Using "The J -Hey Kid" (.121 ba last 30 games) as a pinch hitter? Shows how hard the teams been hit by injuries. Heywards Cubs career ops (709) is getting closer to being below 700.

Cubs / Sox bad money ops

Adam Dunn (4 YR)- 732
Adam LaRoche (1 YR)- 634
Milton Bradley (1YR)- 775
Alfonso Soriano (7 YRS)- 812
Kosuke Fukudome (4 YRS)- 772
Todd Hundley (2 YR)- 684

I think Hundley had to be the most hated Cub, even more than Bradley. I remember people running down the aisle to scream obscenities' at him after he struck out.

nice to see Soriano on that list. There are still people who thought he was a benefit for 07 and 08....

He absolutely was. He definitely had issues, but him and Cutler are the most underappreciated professionals to ever play in Chicago. He put up some of his best career numbers as a Cub. Its not his fault Hendry opened up the checkbook and gave him a deal he probably could never live up to.

The Cubs likely don't win the division without Aldolfo in 2007.

Jordan Bernfield, and others, thought Soriano was Hall of Fame worthy. Soriano is a perfect example that numbers can be deceiving.

Just noticed the Mets have played 8 fewer games than the Cubs. That’s going to catch up with them at some point.

I thought I saw they were in the middle of a 19 games in 17 days kind of thing.

Can't wait to watch Heyward go 0 for 3 tonight.
So... 2 weak grounders and a K? Or two Ks?

Howie Rose ripped Heyward on tonight's Mets radio broadcast.

I realize the Cubs are hoping to save some money on his salary if there is a labor stoppage. And maybe there will be some buyout language in the new CBA to reduce the luxury tax hit of released players. But until then Heyward should not be starting more than twice a week, in a rotation with Happ and Wisdom (Bryant to RF in that case). Let Marisnick play every day in CF, even against eighties, because Marisnick has far better defense and probably isn't going to hit .160 against righties.

JD has zero to say about JH when he's at bat. How could he possibly have nothing to say every time he bats?

2nd time this month that the Cubs lose the first 3 games of a road series, and then the Professor pitches and wins the 4th game.
