I was watching the game last night when broken bat - batted ball went by Marshall and then hit the bat again to help give Santana a cheap base hit. I also noticed Marshall's reation to that (throwing his arms out as if to say "what the F?")...then a couple of other "bad breaks" (walk?) and he had this big dejected look & porr demeaner on the mound. I was sort of pissed about it.

Then I caught Baseball Tonight, and at first I was AMAZED that they were not talking about the Yankees or Red Sox, but since the Cubs were playing the Mets, I suppose that deserved some air time....Anyway...

Kruk went off on Marshall and basically called him out and told him to "grow a pair". I liked that and agreed. I like Marshall and think he can be better.

I backed Marshall at first this season thinking he would be a viable fifth starter. After the games I have seen him pitch, I think its time to cut the guy loose.

what Boers would call a "gut feeling" or "reading the tea leaves." Blass syndrome is usually for fastball pitchers (Jim Deshais, Rick Ankiel) and Rich's out pitch is an uncle charlie. It's between his ears, not his arm and my money is on a Cubs provided sports psychologist in the offseason. If not, look out for Angel Guzman. Marshall is a lefty, and as such is a somewhat to moderate trade value. The Cubs need to start trading chips while they're worth something instead of waiting for progress (Pie). By the way, anyone like how I stirred their pot yesterday playing devil's advocate?
