So Dempster is the color guy w/ the new fatso play by play guy?

Did JD get pushed out already? I remember last year when Dempster was in the booth JD always had this uneasy look / body language with him on tv - he knew this guy was there to take his job.

Dempster fucking sucks. Marquee fucking sucks too. New guy I'll give some time but I never liked him on ESPN. Found him really annoying after a few games. Now we get him for 162, just wonderful.

No, like I've said, they want the YES Network model of revolving announcers. Sandberg is going to do games too.

Also, Pat Hughes is going to do some TV when Sciambi is out, which means more Zach Zaidman on the radio. Lovely.

I realize it is Spring Training.

I realize it is an 8pm start in Chicago.

I realize they are trying to feature their new signing, Ryno.

But for the love of God, what the fuck are they doing with a 4 man booth?? And while the starters are still in the game???

And a 4 man booth and not one minority player?

Some of the worst baseball TV I have ever witnessed, and I saw Pat Foley try to call a Cubs game when Harry was out after his stroke.

i caught the game from last night on mlb network. dempster sucks. he's trying to do his baseball anecdote thing like some of the better announcers out there but he doesn't sell it.

Maybe it has to do w/ the new guy basically ignoring him while dempster is telling his story. He seems disinterested in anything but himself.

Dirty little secret about NHL broadcasters is that a lot of them were shooting for other sports and settled for hockey. Foley's predecessor Andy MacWilliams said as much; he didn't care for hockey but it was the path of least resistance.

Not surprised. Radio hockey pbp in smaller markets is atrocious. I was intrigued when SXM carried games but it's mostly shit.

Seattle has been hyping up that their radio announcer is going to be the first black play-by-play guy in NHL history. (Mike Tirico doesn't count, probably as per his own wishes.) I hope he turns out to be really good and not just stunt casting.

The only bit of the story of the golden goose that the Ricketts know is what they remember from Willy Wonka. Won't take long to destroy the worldwide fan base that was cultivated by the Trib, what with the already declining interest of successive generations. Go ahead, be the next Bill Wirtz.

This boogs asshole can't do some simple research? i mean google baseball reference?

Cubs subbed in Vargas in the 8th - Boogs says he's making his Cubs Debut. Nope. He played last year and hit a big hr late in the year @ a game vs the brewers.

This guy has to get better.

It’s crazy how different Boog sounds on his interview spots on the radio compared to his delivery on a game. Sounds like a totally different dude

The little I’ve heard is snoozeville. I mean he’s a pro no doubt but it hasn’t been entertaining at all .

At first I was sad I didn't have Marquee, but the longer I go without it, the less I feel that way. Sure, I miss sitting down and watching an occasional ball game, but I have found myself on the weekend putting it on the radio while I do other things and it has been kind of nice. Its also probably helpful that they aren't that good and I don't feel like I am missing a hell of a lot of important baseball. I do like radio broadcasts though - baseball on the radio really works for me.

Got to have access to tv broadcast of all Chicago teams. Not worried about saving piddly amount of money.

Not really about the money for me (although I do like to keep the TV/Internet charges down), I just like the streaming services I have and it isn't worth it to add another one in to the mix just to see the occasional ball game.

caught a bit of the cubs x reds. 2-2, bottom of the 8th, men on 3rd and 1st, no outs for the cubbies. batter bunts right back to the pitcher, runner on 3rd takes off, goes back to 3rd after being 60% down the line...out in a run-down. the sad cubbies needed the reds pitcher to throw a wild pitch to score the eventual winning run in that bottom of the 8th.

pat hughes and j.d. didn't say anything negative about the play. i know harry would have been doing back-flips over the terrible base running. man, that was terrible.

cubs in mid-season form and pat hughes must have been working on his newest CD to sell.

During the Cubs spring games Marquee is going heavy on interviews with Cubs players, and staff. Team affiliated interviews though (proof withe the Score) are very lame, rehearsed, and boring.
Be better to have the delightful Taylor talk to fans would be more interesting.

Get rid of Chris Myers and let Beth Mowins always fill in for Boog.

From Feder:

Quote:
Marquee Sports Network has launched “Cubs Cornerstones,” a monthly series of documentaries profiling big names in Cubs history. June’s opener spotlights Shawon Dunston, to be followed by Carlos Zambrano in July, Lou Piniella in August and Pat Hughes in September. “’Cubs Cornerstones’ is another avenue for us to share the storied history of Chicago Cubs baseball with our fans, highlighting fan favorites and memorable personalities,” Mike Santini, senior vice president of programming and production, said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to share these stories throughout the year.” Episodes will air multiple times each month.

Lou Piniella in August, so are they going to get bored with producing the documentary and quit?

'Episodes will air multiple times each month" haha yeah I bet they will

Marquee Cubs shill Sean Marshall was embarrassingly positive fake on M & H. He must have a lot of baseball knowledge how he became a very good pitcher with the Reds. But, like JD on the the Cubs broadcast they're under stifling restraints.
