Back on the DL, if he isn't performing well he manufacturers an excuse that something hurts.

it’s absolutely an exercise in stunning stupidity and incompetence that a general manager signed him for 7/ 182 But then again Javier Baez got 6/140.

This is a Cubs thread. Keep your Moncada and Eloy comments in the Sox section.

Baez might be the worst player in the league right now, and that isn't even hyperbole. And the Tigers are paying him so they just have to keep running him out there, and he just can't teach himself to lay off that low outside pitch so he keeps swinging at it time after time after time. He literally has forgotten whatever he knew about hitting. What he is doing now makes his Cubs years look like he was Ted Williams.

To be fair, the cubs extracted the best baseball out of baez and bryant they had and cut them loose before they really washed.

The Cubs did an outstanding job of resisting the urge to pay any of these guys. That is really a credit to Heyward and how fucking awful he was and how they would do anything to avoid pissing away money like that again.

To think that in the long run, Heyward might have saved the Cubs dead money contracts...

JFC . The Rockies GM should be fucking fired for this signing. Bryant just needs to pull the pin and retire.

He is by far the biggest puss to ever play in my opinion. Never plays through any nagging injury, Maybe his daddy brought him that way. He really used to get geared up for Pajama day with the Cubs.
His injury history proves my point with a medley of issues including too many foot and finger owies.

I hate to bring this up, but you can track the direct start of Kris Bryant's downfall to the Faucci shot

https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/mlb/ch ... al/173562/

Quote:
Kris Bryant, the former MVP who’s off to an MVP-caliber start to this season, said he’s been vaccinated and that “I feel great [and have] a great peace of mind to just go out there and play baseball.”

1.078 OPS in April 2021
.961 OPS in May 2021
.445 OPS in June 2021

Injured/Bad 2022-Now

Covid Moncada's career was over around the same time.

Are we sure Eloy got the vaccine and didn't sprain an ankle or something while waiting in line to the get the shot?

]The Rockies announced that they have placed Kris Bryant on the 10-day injured list due to lumbar degenerative disc disease. Catcher Braxton Fulford had his contract selected to take Bryant’s place on the roster. Right-hander Jeff Criswell was transferred to the 60-day IL to open a 40-man spot for Fulford. Criswell had Tommy John surgery last month and will miss the entire season. Thomas Harding of MLB.com reported the Bryant and Fulford moves prior to the official announcement.

Injuries have been the defining feature of Bryant’s time in Colorado. He is now in his fourth season as a member of the Rockies but hasn’t surpassed 80 games in any of those campaigns. His first season in the mountains, 2022, he hit well but only got into 42 contests. Since then, he has not only been frequently sidelined but also ineffective when in the lineup. He has a .222/.307/.335 batting line over the 2023-25 seasons and is out to a brutal .154/.195/.205 start so far in 2025.

I know this was probably posted somewhere in the MLB section but I cross posted it here for the agreeable congruence of it being in the same thread.

Sad to hear! Interestingly enough, I have that too! Yet, I'm not sure exactly why he cannot play baseball... There are rough days, for sure, but I still teach Krav Maga and combat grappling in the Chicagoland area (despite being a bit against doctor's orders, but I'm careful...ish). It is interesting because baseball isn't a contact sport! Now, yes, injuries definitely happen, and I can imagine a bad slide causing problems, or a bad dive maybe... But again, I can do a lot still and have had this for years now (called spinal stenosis for me) so I'm surprised he is having so many issues! Now, his issues can be worse than mine and the pain can be worse, though there are many bad days, but still, I can manage it with ibuprofin and not being a bitch!

Good. I love to see him fail.

Here was the guy with the perfect upbringing, his dad trying to control everything so that he can succeed in perfect conditions and maximize his talent.

He's the kinda guy that never had to deal with adversity on his own coming up. Fuck him. I love to see his dad's master plan blow up in his face.
