Sources told ESPN's Buster Olney that the Padres have agreed to terms with Henry Blanco on a one-year, $750,000 contract.

Blanco signed with the Padres for only $250,000 more than what the cubs offered Bako?? Why the hell didn't Hendry they sign Blanco for that amount?? I really don't understand what the hell Hendry's trying to do this off season. Maybe he can try to get him back in the Peavy deal. :lol:

Cubs signed catcher Paul Bako, who had been with the Reds, to a one-year, $725,000 contract.

$25,000 less than what Blanco signed for. I think Hendry is a little too obsessed with left-handed hitters. The cubs better hope Soto stays healthy or this move could come back to bite them in the ass.

There is gotta be something more to the story of Blanco not being back than him not being a left handed bat.

Was he a clubhouse lawyer? did he and Piniella not get along? There is something fishy about this whole situation.

This is ONE OF MANY REASONS why the Cubs will be out of it by August 1.

Change that date to October 5th and I am inclined to agree.
