I am usually not supersticious to the point you cant mention the NO NO, but LEN! COME ON! A Baseball Guy doesn't push the baseball gods with constantly talking about it.

Another Great outi9ng by Wells.

I'm sure that any time there's ever been a no-hitter, somebody somewhere talked about it. Len mentioned it several times during Z's game last year.

Not discussing no-hitters has to be in the top 5 meatball mantras in sports. To even entertain the idea that someone talking about a no-hitter would effect the outcome of it is insulting, unless you're yelling it directly at the pitcher in the dugout. Pat Hughes talked about it plenty on the radio tonight.

Its tradition. I like when the announcers don't say anything about it, but still let you know whats going on.

Like many other things about baseball, there is alot to be said for the tradition of the game. To believe that talking about a no no in progress effects the outcome is ludicrous. To describe what is happening without overtly referring to a no no in progress is creative, enjoyable, and traditional. It's doing your play by play or color craft well and I appreciate it.

I also appreciate a bullpen that does their fucking job, but that's in another thread...

Half the fun of baseball (as a player and fan) are the little things, superstitions, and traditions in the game. Players have their pre-game rituals and weird things they do during a game. So do fans and announcers. Yes it's goofy but it's a big part of my enjoyment of the game.

The point being Len seems to be s such a baseball guy, I did not think he would dwell on it like he did

Yet never said "No hitter"

I thought the rule was that you could dwell all you wanted as long as you never said "no-hitter" or "perfect game," hence that one column where Mariotti called out Hawk for yelling "PERFECT THROUGH SEVEN!" or something.
