If this guy needs surgery, shut him down and go get the surgery now! Aramis has never been a speedy healer.

This team is basically back next year, so you need to be ready.

One thing I would do, it dump Bradley. Yes, just cut him and let someone else sign him.

Bigfan, I agree. Nothing good can come from him playing the rest of the year.

On top of dumping Bradley, the Cubs have a "to do list" longer than every husbands' on this board combined:

They could also try to sell Fukudome's contract to a Japanese team, even if they have to pay most of his salary. He can't hit major league pitching.

They need to find a sucker to take Fonzie, anyone with a deep pocket book and a need for a gazelle in the outfield, for anything.

They need to say buh-bye to Kevin Gregg, a failed experiment from the start.

They could get rid of DLee, there are guys in the system who could easily fill his spot and do just as good of a job for less green.

We need another middle infielder, "Pocket Rocket" is nothing more than a backup.

With the whole outfield gone (if the above suggestions were taken), they will need to replenish it. No more high priced stars. Go the route of getting servicable guys for a good price, then you'll have money to bolster the bullpen.

Get Smardzja (sp.?) ready to come up here at the beginning of the season, for the whole season, because he will be needed, whether its in the pen or as a starter.

Have you even been paying attention to the team this year, or are you just going over old story lines? Fukudome has been one of the few bright spots on this team. He has hit the ball consistently no matter where Lou has put him in the lineup.

1st- Fukudome's batting .270 this year, albeit better than last year, but for his price I'd like to see .300.

2nd- "Gazelle" isn't a compliment. It's meant to insinuate he prances around the infield like that fairy Scotty Pods, but he isn't half the fielder Pods is/was. So we actually agree.

3rd- Yankees are doing it with less stars this year than they've had in the past. Jeter and Rivera are home grown, and A-Rod is just a side show. They got rid of roids Giambia, Carl Pavano, Bobby Abreau, and Mussina retired. Sure they have Burnett and Sabathia, but they're not "stacked' with "stars" like in the past, when they were coming in 2nd to Boston.
As for the Dodgers, the only true star they have is Manny and Rafael Furcal. Nobody else is a high priced name.
As for Boston, maybe they'll swing by this way and watch the playoffs with the Cubs, because they could very well be available.

See now you are changing your argument. You said, "He cannot hit major league pitching." Yeah, .270 is clearly not capable of hitting major league pitching  So since he is hitting .270, plays a solid OF, has a good arm, is solid on the basepaths, we just send him back to Japan?

There are way bigger problems on this team that need to be addressed.

Aramis' 9th inning AB vs. METS=a guy who wants to go home.

"For his price"

By that logic: Soriano better hit about .350, Bradley better hit at least 45 HRs and drive in no fewer than 120, and Zambrano should win 24 games with an ERA at or below 3 each and every year. Of all the Cubs problems, in the outfield alone, you nitpik at Fukudome?

And yeah, I guess Texeria, Sabathia, Damon, and Burnett aren't "stars" at all. Are they part of the ARod side show too?

I gotta agree RDSC. I said in July that Fuk can't hit major league pitching but I'm slowly coming around. He'll probably hit 280 next year and I DO like his OBP. Not bad. He's runny, he's throwy, and he's got hustle. He just looks like a total dumbass when he whirlin away at those changeups. Didn't they throw change ups in Japan?
Soriano has got to sit. If this is really about his knee, then get the surgery going, get the recovery going NOW. If this is about the meat between his ears then you might think about cutting bait. Might get something for him. He might make a decent DH somewhere. But the cubs know if it's his Brain or his Knee and what they do now will tell us what it is. I gotta think that if they don't have him in surgery soon, the problem is upstairs and they know it.
Bradley. Man, the wheels turning but the hamster is dead you know? You're stuck with him. I think you might need to get used to Bradley. This new ownership is going to slash the everloving shit out of salary and they will not pay guys to leave. those days boys, are over. The pay him? He's going to fucking play. Because as of this sale, the quality of the team will no longer matter. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Cubs are going back to 80's and 90's style baseball. Get used to it.
The Cubs need a shortstop. Move Theriot to second cause he's a below average SS IMHO. Decent servicable 2 bagger I bet but he's too bad rangey and pussy armey to play solid defensive SS.
Cubs have NO late relief. It looks like Marmol is going to be your closer, so we've all got to deal with that but it leave a big fucking gaping hole in late relief. Anyone see how great Gregg was in the late innings this weekend? SUPER! When Grabow is your best late inning option you are fucked.
I am DONE with the Aaron Miles, Mike Fontenot experiment. Fontenot was EPIC FAIL. I can't stress that enough. When I hear about the STUPID shit that moondick Hendry did, what with the DeRosa, Gregg, Soriano, Bradley thing, let's not forget this dumb bastard had FONTENOT playing every day in his plans and worse, stuck with it. Who's cock is that fucker sucking?? He must be really fucking good at it too.
Fox + Fuld + Hoffpauir + meatball = MATCH. These guys are not going to be the next anything. So suck it up.
I'm willing to give Soto another chance. Stop eating you bovine bastard and you'll be fine. Hopefully.

And for the love of GOD no more WBC play PLEASE. That shit is killing the careers of MLB players.

I like it Dark.

This team is fucked from here till next Sunday. Is that statement even right? I don't know, I'm a bit drinky from my draft today.

The only good thing I've heard regarding the Cubs was Schuster today saying the Cubs have bounced around the idea of LaRussa/Duncan if they both are on the market.

Now just get a major league GM.

Yeah, sorry. That wasn't supposed to be clever or anything. It was a bad typo.

Hell, just send over the damn franchise....I'm sick of the losing, the overpaid players, the excuses, the lack of fundamentals, the blind to reality fans and most of all that annoying, fucking song they sing when they win a game to finish another 4-6 home stand.

who in the system is serviceable enough to take Lee's place? tell me please.

Theriot has been maybe the most consistent hitter in the Cubs lineup the past couple years. While I agree he might fair better over at 2nd he is still a good hitter to have in the lineup. you need guys that arent afraid to slap the ball the other way and can run with some speed.

I like Fukudome. I agree that he is starting to look more like a major league hitter. Not worth his contract but the Cubs are probably keeping him until his contract is up and I wont really complain about that because I like his hustle and the way he goes about playing the game. Plus his obp is near .400

I have no problem with signing "star players" but Hendry has signed the wrong players for the wrong money and contract lengths. Plenty of other great teams get star players but they go about it smarter. They dont go after a guy that has such a poor injury/chemistry history. How is Anaheim doing with their Abreu signing? or Ibanez on the Phillies? or Teixera on the Yankees? Or even Dunn with the Nats? All having excellent seasons but of course Hendry wanted the shitbag thats been with 7 different teams and cant stay healthy. Thats a GM problem that needs to be addressed you dont just give up trying to get big players.

Bradley's only missed 20 games this year... this year has nothing to do with him not staying healthy.
