I never said anything close to that, so don't try to put those words in my mouth. I just like to see players who actually hustle in the field and play more fundamentally sound. Plus, the distractions Bradley caused all year certainly were not missed. They did play some crappy teams down the stretch and it made winning in September easier, no doubt. No, I don't think they should have just had Fox and Fuld out there all season. They should have signed Ibanez or Abreau this past winter, is what they should have done. It was clear then, as it is now, that it's unlikely they will ever be able to find someone interested in taking on Soriano's terrible contract, so he's not going anywhere and with the money he's paid, I don't believe he's going to be benched either.
Isn't hindsight such a wonderful thing? Last offseason, Bradley had the best offensive statistical numbers than any other Left handed free agent so you can't fault Hendry for that reason. However you can fault him for his judge of character and mental stability of Bradley. And you will always find at the end of the year in clubs who are out of the pennant, players who are hustling their asses off because these are the players who are playing for a roster spot next year. This is their time to showcase themselves in front of the world to see.
