Really? A fucking Ice Rink???? Parking for shows at the Cubby Bear would produce better revenue!

This is exactly the shit that concerns me. Pretty, fun things for the Ricketts children to do on the weekends.

How much can they make from an Ice Rink? Insurance? Matrial? Labor?

Work on getting rid of Milton, then they can build the damn ice rink!

So did they buy the Cubs & Wrigley Field...or did they buy Wrigley Field and the Cubs? They will leverage Wrigley Field to get as much revenue out of it as they can. Maybe the ice rink will help cover the cost of dumping Bradley! :P

Im pretty sure they can make some good money on an ice rink. Compare it to what they would be making during a nomral winter (which would be $0), anything that turns a profit would be a better idea.

They will make money on this. It was unused space. Not a bad idea.

I can put up with all the regular Cubs jokes of yours, but don't you dare mock floppy hat day!

Between that, offering winter tours of the ballpark to the fans & the Captain Morgan club possibly opening up to serve the patrons, not a bad idea at all.

Capt. Morgan is open all year round.

If they'd open a hockey rink I'd be game, that would be pretty cool to play there...

The article I read in the Sun Times said the rink would be set up in the parking lot off Clark, west of the stadium. The estimated costs would be $300k, and they aren't expecting to make a profit.

If the rink was set up inside Wrigley, that would be kinda neat. But outside in the parking lot? And you don't expect to profit? what's the point?

Are you kidding? They have the biggest parking lot in the area, that is 90% unused!

I don't know how much you charge someone to skate? $5.00 for kids? $10 for adults? Gonna have 200 people a day?

$2000 a day? - insurance- maintenance- and it might cost you some money to excavate, build, materials. they gonna make $500 a day?????????? Oh I forgot the big hot chocolate sales! Ad another $300

This is a good business for some guy to start, not the $845 million guy!

Bigfan, you have owned businesses in the past. What is one of the first things you do when you are proposing the business...that's right, talk to the Alderman.

This is just a little make nice type of event the Ricketts are throwing that will allow big "BROUGHT TO YOU BY YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD ALDERMAN" to be splashed across the entire area for all to see. It will also promote a little good will with the neighborhood...and then it will be time to ask for more concert dates and night game and a bigger triangular structure and, and, and

So you're telling me there will be a stand at the ice rink where I can buy an Ann Sather's cinnamon roll?

I thought this was being run by the park district, not the Cubs.

Which tells me they dont know what the fuck they are doing. The big neighborhood controversy is about 15 people who feel like they have some great power for being known as THE WRIGLEYVILLE NEIGHORS. I know plenty of people that live in my neighborhood and not one of them has a problem with the games, parking, fans ect that people always talk about as an issue.
