You wait 2 years to buy the team you love so you can build an Ice Rink????
What in PK Wrigleys name is going on? You take over the team & after 101 years of NOTHING you are worried about salaries?? It's Free Agent time, fans don't care about Milton Bradleys contract. Go get somebody, help this team be better then last years team.
Ricketts look like the McCaskeys to me,so far!

Last year fans bitched that the Cubs jumped too quickly in Free Agent time, now they are bitching they are waiting too long. Cannot.be.pleased.

GUILTY.

It's like the deals on Black Friday. Half the urge to go is you are afraid you are missing out on some great deal.

Many of the trade possibilities and free agent signings have happened this year much earlier than last year.

I understand the Cubs aren't in the market for a big name, but any name that will help the team at this point will do.

Make Capps an offer that he won't refuse, tidy up the back end of the bullpen.

Nothing big - just something.

I just like him because his last name is similar to mine...all I need now is the Cubs to make an offer to Shawn Camp and I'm set....

In 2007, he had 18 saves as the first year as a closer, started mid season, finished with a 2.28 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.
In 2008, he had 21 saves with a 3.02 ERA and an even more ridiculous .97 WHIP.
In 2009, his WHIP numbers doubled and it was due to his injury.

His WHIP and ERA for career are 3.61 and 1.18. The 3.61 ERA was inflated due to a bad year last year

Call me crazy, but I just have a hard time wanting a dude on my team that gets cut by the Pirates.

We need to meet our quota of ex Pirate players RFDC. We only got Grabow from them last year.

It's like the Sox with former Royals.

They want to respect the team traditions.

I didn't need someone signed right away, but I needed someone gone so when a good deal is on the table we dont walk away from it becuase Milton still exists.

I want the Ricketts family to do something really good, not just do SOMETHING. Signing mediocre players like Cameron, Byrd or Capps, would be doing something. But i don't want to see that kind of activity. Going after Granderson, Wagner Seito, or perhaps trying to aquire Soriano from Atlanta, would have been worthwhile pursuits. But spending more money foolishly, will do nothing for me. Make the moves they make-count! Get a true CF, a true leadoff hitter and shore up the bullpen. but do it with QUALITY, or just use young players like Sam Fuld until a quality player is available.

At this point it doesn't even matter anyway. They're not going to win the World Series, and I have serious doubts about them even making the playoffs this year.
